Is this evidence of alien life?

I recently came across this area of space.

11 orderly rows of stars?

Surely this is too regular to be natural - so is this evidence of aliens out there?

If it is, we should be scared..... very scared. Any alien race that is capable of building or moving that many star systems is millenia ahead of humans in technological terms.

Looks like a random chance layout based on the orientation of the galaxy map. Adjust the X,Y,and Z orientation a bit, and watch the lines go away...

A very advanced civilization indeed! Consider the following interesting facts about your observation:

1. In a simple 3d plot, the stars seem to be randomly distributed.
2. It takes viewing the cluster of stars from a particular angle to see the 11 lines
3. This view is only observable if you are capable of interstellar travel.

Why possibly would we need to be scared of aliens ? We are looking at it with the usual human scarcity and human ego mentality. If aliens can travel between stars in reasonable time frames they have access to all the resources they could possibly ever want, they wouldn't need Earth or us. Earth is not particularly special in the Universe. Also I doubt an alien race is plagued by the cancer that is capitalism, or at least no longer, they would have learned to live within the finite resources of their planet before venturing off into space, and because they could make do with what they have got, they are at peace with themselves and have no need for conquering other races for resources. We have an economic model on Earth that tries to produce infinite growth on a planet of finite resources, pitting everyone against everyone, giving reward for competition, the recipe of war itself. Humans are adaptable, if competition wasn't rewarded, but instead cooperation, we might actually make it into the stars, rather than destroying our own habitat which will kill us, after it has killed most of the other human life supporting organisms on the planet.

Actually, these stars aren't procedurally generated. They can be found in this catalog: http://vizier.cfa.harvard.edu/viz-bin/VizieR?-source=J/MNRAS/392/1034 :)

Interesting. The names can be real, but the three dimensional positions are the topic of this thread, right? These stars, if in the eagle nebula, are 7000 LYs away. This catalog doesn't hold parallax data, let alone three dimensional coordinates of each star. (The two dimensional data from our position, but that wouldn't be enough for a game like this.) So these positions, we must accept, are fictional.

We're all forgetting the real issue here, if Aliens live in our galaxy, they're eating up our tasty resources, OUR TASTY RESOURCES!! *grabs pitchfork* This galaxy aint big enough for the both of us.

There's plenty of evidence of alien life in the game already, water-based, water-carbon-based, ammonia-based....i think you meant if there's evidence of an alien civilization. ;)

Sorry to nitpick on semantics, of course we know what you meant.

Nice find, you been there yourself to try and find out ?
