It's important to be aware - it is more of a simulation than a game. There's no way to "win". There are no lengthy, involved quest lines or guilds. There are missions, but for the most part they are still simple deliver/fetch/kill missions.
If you want to be led by the hand through your pilot career, this game doesn't do that. It's pretty much up to you where you go and what you do.
On the other hand, if you want one of the most immersive space piloting experiences around, with the galaxy being your oyster, then this game's for you.
I must have spent ~ €1,000 on the game so far, between joysticks, pedals, head-tracker, eye tracker, ED, lifetime pass, paint-jobs... plus I hope to upgrade to a decent gaming PC next year which will likely triple that figure. Absolutely worth it, for me.
