Is this normal?

Just been on a short exploration trip (1000 Lyr) or thereabouts. Noticed that on entering some systems it would come up with "Discovered X new astronomical object(s)" before I had used my Advanced Discovery Scanner, X been a number greater than 1, nothing would show on my radar until I had used the Scanner.

If this is a bug I will report it.

The passive scan only goes out to ~20ls or so.

If you get a number of bodies but nothing on the radar then that means there is an asteroid belt and there are that many clusters in range of the passive scan. If there are any close in planets or companion stars within range then they will show up on the radar as normal.

Thanks for that info iain666...I have only be exploring in ED for 1.25 years and did not know that!!

I was wondering about these automatic discovery notifications as well until I found out that they always show up when there are asteroid belts around the star in close proximity. But I think this feature is relatively new, suspecting 2.2 or something.
