Is this rare? M Star with a ring

Posted on reddit but so far no response. Was just wondering if this is rare or common. Found this M Star with a ring around it, which is something I haven't seen before. Usually it's a dwarf star or gas giant with rings. Anyway, after scooping I dropped into the ring to watch the star which was rotating pretty fast. Was pretty stunning view.

I think it just might be. I've been out exploring for ages now (see sig), and I've yet to come across one of those.

Well done CMDR!

Nice find! Never seen one before.

Was there enough room to fly between the ring and the star or did the proximity zone cover the entire visible gap there?

We haven't seen a large enough portion of the entire galaxy to really declare it rare or not, but that said: Ive never seen one, Id classify that as something special.
If you've got a system name and co-ordinates on that you might want to report it to Erimus over on the mapping thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=116450
That's certainly one people might want to stop and look at.

Congrats cmdr. It's a rare find, though one would pray not to exit hypercruise straight into the asteroids!

Congrats OP,

Have never seen one of those on my travels.

A rare find IMO.

You certainly wouldn't want to jump to that!

Yes, its very rare I've only ever seen one, it was posted as the largest ringed stellar body in the galactic book of records here:

how big is your star, does it beat it have a solar radius larger then 0.4113?

Oh awesome! Thanks for that link. I'll find out how heavy it is tonight after I get off work.

It did not appear to be enough room, before I was able to reach the gap area I was already in fuel scoop range and heat began to rise.

6,000+ systems visited ... 50,000+ LY covered ... never seen one of these.

Nice work, commander. Carry the snapshots in your flightsuit - brag about it in starport bars, take bets and then show the proof - should keep you in free drinks for life :)

wouldn't be awesome if there was something special out there that would make it worth the effort of taking a big trip and go out there to mine to come back with a cargo hold full of rare ore. :)
As a miner, I have scanned and sampled systems outside the core and there is no difference from what I can see Pristine is Pristine and yield or composition does not really seem to change.
