Is this the new weapon to use against the Thargs?

.

I think these brave and fine gentleman pilots here who recorded and put up this highly underappreciated video (not me) which I've stumbled upon in the darker parts of Youtube, present us the new era of technology and tactics we can use to defend ourselves against the looming threat of the Thargoids and deserves watching. [big grin][big grin]

How was that possible? I thought ships always shut down when near the Thargoid?

Anyway, doesn't look like a very effective tactic to me unless we're planning to try to push them into a black hole.

Yeah you can clearly see that turnip turning into shish kebab at 0:40 with a Corvette going all the way through it's middle but surviving. FD, Tharg too stronk, nerf pls. And I have no idea how he is flying, I'm assuming that Corvette pilot arrived late or did something else similar which made him not be included in the event of ships loosing control.

So, unless I'm totally off the mark, these flower ships must be the reimagined Thargons, the Thargoid scout ships from the old Elite. Nice! In this regard I can totally see one of their Motherships plus a couple of wings of Thargons each can present a serious problem or two for a Farragut or any of the other currently available human capital ships for that matter.

Even with new weapon/EMP upgrades I don't see Solo players being able to successfully engage these without some kind of Wing (NPC or human player). My Corvette rebuy hovering at nearly $40M Credits, not sure how much experimentation can be financed to find their Achilles heel prior to bankruptcy under the current game mechanics.

This could be why Thargoid incursions will be localized to specific areas for the 2.4 timeframe...

Here's what I read in a different thread: it only shuts down ships which are already in the instance when the thargoid spawns. These guys waited in supercruise until their buddies down on the planet told them the sequence was starting, then they dropped in - after the portion of the script which disables ships had already run.
