Is this the shortest Frame shift jump?

Exploring this star cluster, I came across a really very short jump distance.

It's less than half the distance from the Alpha Centauri entry point to Hutton Orbital

What would happen if someone tried to fly there in SC instead of warping? Would it load the next area or just be nothing?

You have to frameshift rather than supercruise. The Frame shift transition is the game loading the data for the next system. supercruising would just get you closer and closer and closer, but even at 0, you wouldn't get there.

That's really lame you can't just fly there in SC. It's not like it wouldn't have plenty of time to load during the trip haha
But honestly, no one would want to fly there manually anyway.

The background starmap is rendered during the hyper jump animation, so it has to be off-screen.

There are other stars as close. For example, Ross 780 and IL Aquarii are about the same distance. And that's just about 20 ly from Sol.

Okay, but come on: it's certainly possible to sneak in a few seconds of stuttering and maybe flickering in a supercruise transit of an hour or more.
