There are 4 different types of interior lighting. Then they have the metal interior and the fancy marble interior with grass and palm trees.

As I said there are only 2 interiors of stations...

Or would call a viper with a red dashboard light a different ship from a viper with a blue dashboard light ?

Saw one of these the other day and assumed it was as a station undergoing an upgrade from Coriolis type to something like an Orbis type, as those hammers look a lot like the arms of an Orbis.

I've only seen one station like that so far and I've dubbed it the murderport -
I decided it'd be fun to try and chase one of those arms and get infront of it in a cobra, turns out they're going at about 420 / s. All was going well until I accidentally drifted sideways and it smashed into me - wasn't too bad until that force propelled me back into the arm, then back into space, then back into the inner length of the arm: basically imagine a hammer on a bungee cord, hilarious but really not good for your ship.

Any idea's what they're for? I was initially thinging it could be storage / labs for things requiring high grav, then I saw someone suggest it might be a refuelling / docking arm for the big capital ships or something which seems pretty cool.

have read many a theory on these

Station under upgrade
Station laundry tumble dryers
Acclimatisation for high G planets (sort of like a pressure chamber for divers)

My personal favourite is it is lonely and just wants a big hug

They are straight from Frontier...

I went to Galileo station by the moon in sol last night and noticed it looked different, when i last visited this station ages ago im sure it looked different. Now it has light almost cream walls instead of grey and generally alot more detail, over all looks like a richer station.

I think there's one at Ling Deti, and I'm pretty sure one of the "mines" is that design... Szulkin? Bresnik?
