Is TrackIR any good with glasses?

I have glasses and want to get TrackIR, will the headset get in the way of my somewhat clunky glasses, or will there be any other problems, with vision and all that? I can't see anything without my glasses.

Thanks.

I wear glasses.

TrackIR is unimpeded by them.

You will need to wear a brimmed hat, like a ballcap or golf visor. The sensor will track a set of reflectors you clip to the brim of the hat.

As an option, you can use the active-LED emitter in place of the reflectors, but you will need a headset instead of a hat to wear.

As long as you are comfortable wearing hats or headsets with your glasses, you should be ok.

The TrackIR camera does not track any features of your face or body, but looks for the active/passive infrared reference points you clipped to your hat or headset. So it doesn't care about your pretty-boy good looks or stylish eyewear.

I have an IR headset using FaceTrackNoIR and a PS3 Camera with filter. In my case it depends on the sensitivity and background lighting. I did have light from the side reflect off my glasses frame, but it was easy to adjust to something where nothing interfered and it was just the three tracking lights.

In terms of headset, glasses make little difference to using one. In terms of visual issues; you should be fine as long as you play with the curves to keep your screen inside of your glasses frames, took me a little while but I have got my head tracking perfect now so I never have to 'look through' my frames.
.
I have never considered reflections from glasses as an issue for trackIR, even more glad I got my EDTracker now! :)

I wear glasses, and have zero issues with TrackIR from them.

Note, if you use the Pro Clip (the one that lights up itself), the IR LEDs built into the TrackIR go off, so there's no possibility of reflections from the glasses anyway.

One curiosity:
While I don't wear glasses, I've found that TrackIR will briefly spaz out when I raise my cup of tea to take a sip!
This is while using the cap with reflectors set-up. My guess is that my cup has some of the reflective properties of the material used on the cap clip.

It's either that or steam coming off the tea, dunno.

It is Earl Grey, hot. What other tea would I drink whilst flying' mah spaceship?

The software should allow you to set the Camera view for the right side pane. It should show you the reference points that camera can see. My guess would be that the cup is distracting the camera with an additional reference point or one or more of the reflectors is blocked and that camera can't see them while you are taking a sip.

Use the camera view in the software to trouble shoot this issue, you might have to adjust the sensitivity thresholds so the camera can not see the cup if it is causing a reflection. Or... you can bind a "Pause" key so you can disable tracking for a moment while you take a drink.

Tea is fully of moral fiber and one of the building blocks of the great British Space Empire (note middle cover ;) ).

TrackIR + Trackclip Pro. I use a Go Pro head band which came with a Quick Clip. The latter I butchered so I could clip the Trackclip to the head band which is worn sideways. My specs fit OK with this setup.
This works for me.
