Isla Muerta East - Next in series rebuild

Park managers

Next to share is my Muerta East rebuild. All the tricks and methods used I have picked up used.

This island is my Cretaceous park. Not all of them of course. I had to drop some of the herbivores and all of the swamp dwelling Carnivores. They live in normal Muerta.

No real dramas on this park, its very straight forward. I will just say this location is a pleasure to build on. Great shape and open space. Like a mini Nublar. Off grid centres not used.

Animals on show (grouped by enclosure)

View from the centre up to the Service area. Notice the Ranger station to the right under the curve in the monorail. Separated form the guest area and linked to the service area by path.

How would you normally start building your parks? Usually I have the facilities close to the entrance and build from there, but I notice you like to place the facilities away to the farthest end of the park. I am really interested in hiding the facilities like how you would.

The tidy and tucked away facilities are only really possible when you return to an island after completing the campaign. I first built this island first in the campaign with the buildings in all kind of places and the enclosures built untidily. Just enough to pass 5 stars and complete the missions. These builds are when I have returned. The island was running in profit so my cash became no issue. Once you have over 100 million in the park demolish the park, close it and start from scratch.

It has taken a few attempts on each park to develop a method. First i started like you describe, placing the required facilities near the entrance, because your thinking you need them complete and then develop a park with them working. But a lot of the time you end up adding a power station here and there and your nice tidy build starts looking untidy. But after a few attempts on each location, I learnt how to cram the facilities together in as little space as possible and how many power stations I needed.

So on each island I just levelled the lot, levelled the ground, filled it with water, removed the water and then you start a park with a totally flat surface, great for building on and opening up all the space. I then just made a decision, where would the required service area fit out of the way, leaving as large an open space for the actual visitor park. Think that you need two parks, a service one and a visitor one.

On this island I decided to cram the service area away up at the top. To leave as much a circular area for the visitor park. With no money to worry about just start with power stations, always place 3 large as a minimum. Then I developed a build where I used the shape of each building to fit each other, like a jigsaw. Here is a pic of a compact service area. Circled area is showing where I used the shape of the research building so provide space for the large substation.

So once your happy with a compact area. Fence it. Link it to the entrance with a monorail and surround it with forest. On my builds I provide a fenced path away to the ranger station that is closer to the exhibits. You will be either loosing money now or not making any depending on if you already upgraded the power stations. So next is build a small easy enclosure nest to the main entrance. Use a small herbivore that doesn't need much space or social requirements. Then open the park. You will be now getting a small profit.

The rest of the park you can take your time on.
