Issue/opinion/question with/about the current CG

Has anyone else noticed that you aren't able to launch fighters in these combat zones? I bring this up because it feels like I get jumped by multiple railgun-armed ships the moment I drop in and my one real distraction can't be used. I'm not that good of a fighter and I really don't care for combat but being Aisling pledged it's not something I can just pass over (40,000 merits,Cha-Ching!).

Okay, this CG SUCKS! I can't leave the station with out seeing this! How are people actually accomplishing anything?

Those CZs are medium, and the NPCs are aggressive. Assuming it is not the station that kills you (see my reply to your post in another thread): What kind of ship build do you fly? It would help if you replicated it on EDSY (if you use Inara, you can export your ships to EDSY directly) to see if something is wrong.

CZs are hard, no way around it. But a proper built ship should not get its shields deleted the moment you undock, no matter if four NPCs are firing at you or not. Also, you should launch with four pips in sys so you have maximum shields. Four PIP in SYS means your base shields are 2.5 times the raw value, one PIP gives you only 1.2 times the base value. Never launch with only one PIP in SYS.

The usual CZ rules apply: Situational awareness is key, good PIP management too, don't fly a paper ship. Show us your ship for better advice.

I am catching fire before the locks even release on departure and from there it's just the "Ka-shoo-thud" of plasma launchers one after another from 3-4 sources. I'll post the build later. Right now, I need a walk to cool off. The Type-10 scrambler build held up a lot better than my Krait Mk.II but after 3 hours on one CZ and still not getting half-way to clear I need to do something else. I think I'll be stepping out of this CG.

Sorry you're having such a hard time. If they do keep getting ganging up on you, resetting the instance might be worth trying (i.e. relogging).

Also note that clearing the CZ isn't the goal. These seem to run a very long time, and there is no extra gain for completing them. The only thing that counts is collecting kills. If the instance starts to suck for some reason, reset it.

And I still say: Show us your ship. Seems you're a little bit underprepared. You should be able to take off even if under fire from multiple NPCs. Really, go to EDSY and rebuild your ship, or export it from Inara if you use it.

I don't get why station responds. Obviously they took the code from the Thargs Wars. However that stations were passive.
Now:
1. Logical flaw - if station kills my Vette between 2 boosts, why does it need us any way ? Station could just wipe enemies 20x faster.
2. Game play flaw - NPC boost around as normal, at some moment it is between me & station, and uses target lock breaker, my gimbals shout the station. Also it could be rocket explosion, fighter, multi-canon, name it.

So on my 1st day I was wiped in 3 minutes. Than I fought with care, closing weapons when I face station. But I still lost fighter 7 times, because my Elite NPC touched the station.
And as bonus, 1 hour later, each 5th kill was giving merits only.

Conflict Zones (not AX) are very easy, if you don't fly there on the Combat Cobra MK3 for 25k ARX!
Obviously that differs from player to player. Easy for a combat trained veteran? Probably. Easy for a median player, maybe with a few ten or maybe one or two hundred hours and little engineering? Surely not. As you can see from all the forum posts over the years, there are players that struggle with CZs. Don't do the "git gud" and downplay it.

Why can't I choose a side in the conflict zone?
Not sure I understand the question. From what I understand, if you are pledged to either side, the CZ auto-assigns you. If you're not pledged or pledged to a third party, the UI seems bugged and broken. I am pledged to Kaine and decided to fight in the LYR/smurf conflict. I got NO CZ interface, no choice of sides, no progress bar, no indication of special events like Spec Ops and War Corrospondents.

It is bugged, it seems. But it also matters very little. I "choose" a side by starting to shoot the smurf ships, then they all turn red, I collect the bonds, and they all count for the CG.

I still think that the ship assembly has more influence than the pilot's skill.

Hmm, I play for Zemina and chose Aisling. And for some reason, I also have all the red ones. In the last combat CG, I could choose a side in the zones, although my strength is always Zemina, and I chose the Archon side (to make it easier to pass in 20%).

In general, color is important in the Zones, it helps you navigate and no break into the enemy's midst alone.

It does play a role, but so does skill and experience, maybe more so - maybe experience more than skill. You will always get trashed in a paper ship, but in my early years I would never have survived a CZ in the ships I do them in now. Heck, I did the current CG in a multirole mission runner / power play build instead of a combat optimized one. That wouldn't have worked for me a few years ago.

I don't go mining without a ship designed for mining.
I don't go into combat zones without a dedicated combat ship.
I don't go into AX zones without an AX zone ship.

A few important things here.

CZ seems to be perpetual, so there is no completion, just kills count (pilots federation).
I am not pledged to ANY PP and have a KII with fighter bay, 2 Beams, 2 MC's and Seeker Missile (new one with FSD killer, but that is actually quite useless, so I may return to my Seeker with Drag Experimental to slow targets - stops them changing speed).

You sign up first for any side first at Mega Ship (I chose Obsidian Directive in Gondul).
Whoever you signed up for, you kill the opposition ships which are now Red on launching.
No-one kills, bothers or shoots at me until I target, shoot and get a hit, then any of the reds not already engaged may go after me.

I also initially leave the no-fire zone (7.5km) with 2 boosts to deploy the fighter, which, on returning to the CZ near Megaship ALSO then defends me AND distracts enemies.

I choose an enemy who is also engaged already, and so I have an easier target, just like at a High Res with lots of security police helping out.
Tag the ship and direct fighter to same target and you can ease off a little.

If it does get a little hairy, boost out twice and the target will be kept busy by the fighter and not follow you whilst you recharge shields, catch breath, take break, get drink, etc.

NOTE if you are in Open, none of the above applies, due to Gankers, rubber banding, syncing, SLF's, etc.
ALSO, I have all other optional modules full of HRP's and MRP's in KII, as it has more slots than PII (or other mediums).

Hey, hi @Helmut Grokenberger, sorry I only play solo 99.9% time, the 0.1% was when I joined you to get the Gaurdian stuffz. Cheers.

One more suggestion, Turrets on Beams and MC's DO NOT FIRE when Megaship is going to get hit, so they do less damage on targets, but you will not touch the Megaship.

I use these as only kills count for this CG, and not interested in speed and finishing CZ as in other scenarios.

They do take longer, but if you want, you can tag many, many ships and take time, if you don't get killed, you will get the kills as time goes on (no on screen text, just a voice confirmation).
Make it more doable rather than continual panic stations.

Yeah something that works under Thargoid attack stopped working for us here, I came here for this same reason. If the no-fire zone is off for our weapon deployment, it should be off for SLF deployment no? Unless this was intentional?

Once you've fired on your first target do you get the red and green bars top right (I'm pledged so my red & green sides are already defaulted)? Green does slowly fill up as your side kills things and you eventually get a "Battle Won" message. But it takes quite a while, bring a thermos and a sandwich.

As a sidenote, I must say it's awfully polite of the Obsidian Directive to let me repeatedly dock and restock ammunition to continue killing their supporters.

however you play stay clear of the station.if you chasing a ship and engaging ,if the ship flies over the station cease fire and engage when its cleared.the station will take you out if you hit it by accident,it doesnt care.
