Issue with computer

Hey Guys,

For some reason when I play Elite Dangerous. My HS80 studio monitor speakers humm and buzz. REALLY LOUD.

I have noticed this happens with any GPU related application actually.

I have tried to google this and found very little information.

If your sound card is adjacent to your video card, see if they are touching anywhere. Can you move the GPU or sound card to another slot away from the other?

Maybe a grounding issue? Make sure your GPU is properly screwed in at the backplate. Are you using shielded cables? It might be worth getting your system ground checked.

I figured it out. You can't have your speakers plugged into the same power strip or outlet as your computer. Very weird!

Are you using the integrated sound on your motherboard, or do you have a dedicated PCI card? Can you lay your hands on a USB DSP just for testing purposes?

Do you have a crappy cheap motherboard?

What connection do you have from the PC to the speakers - are you using the balanced or 1/4 inch inputs? Are the cables lying next to the PSU cable?

No I have a nice AS Rocks MOBO. And I have a USB external interface going from 1/4 inch to XLR.

I'd look into a better power strip. Maybe you've got one with some dodgy surge protection or "on" indicator that is causing problems. Usually you want everything on the same supply and ground to avoid loops, especially if they are devices that are connected to each other.
