Issues in Open Play and Group Play

Hey guys,

I've purchased two copies of ED, one for me and one for my friend.

Everything looks great so far, but I've experienced one small issue when he came over to my place:

We loaded ED on two computers at my home (they are both in the same network with NAT) and although we could start the game in either Open Play or Group Play, we could not see each other at all. It was like we were playing in Solo mode.

Have you guys experienced this before? Was it because we were both behind the same IP address with NAT translation? I have other games that work just fine in this setup.

Thanks for your help,

Philip

Nobody else experienced this? Am I the only one? :(

Wish you all Happy Holidays!

Philip

Hi Philip, This does happen. I have been playing since beta and playing with mates is not the best experience at the moment. Early 2015 (Jan, i think) will see the introduction of "wings" which is what multiplay co-op should be. All I can suggest is logging off and back on to see if you have been put in the same instance.

If you haven't already done this I recommend you also become friends in game. I found this helps a lot and the matchmaker will more often than not put you in the same instance.

This happens when you are on different servers. Its a real pain. Me and my mates were trying to play and we could see each other despite being in the same private group. All you have to do is change server. Here's the catch, Frontier have provided us a way to do that manually.

I had problems playing with my bro at first (though not on a lan).
I did port forwarding and it has worked just fine since.

The best way to check is to try and send a text message to your friend - if it fails to send then there is a network issue.

We're friends in game and it still does not work.

I also tried creating a group with just the two of us and enter game as Group Play but that didn't work either.

When this happens, even text messages do not reach him so it's clear we're in different instances.

It works just fine when we're not in the same LAN.

Hopefully a dev will see this and take a closer look.

Thanks for all your help guys,

Philip

Have you tried both going to Supercruise and then dropping out at the same station, or one drops first and the other targets his FSD wake and drops there too?
It's a while since I tried it with a friend sharing the same router, but I think this worked for us in both Private Group or Open play. Worth a try

I seem to remember somebody mentioning that the game always puts you into your own private instance on startup.... but don't quote me on that :)
