It happened to me; don't fly without a rebuy

THIS! This is how you handle a mistake! You knew the risks, you took a chance and it all went wrong... But you're not here crying, blaming FDev or the insurance system. You have my admiration for being able to take it on the chin like a grown up, without stamping your feet or blaming others for your mistake.

Unlucky CMDR, if you ever need a hand earning credits in a CZ, Rez or mission, feel free to hit me up and I'll be glad to help out o7

*On a side note: I had to rebuy my Python twice within the space of 3 hours due to my x55 and the ghost key press issue. Going into silent running without touching a key, while fighting two Vultures and a FAS at a Hazrez is not a fun experience... Cost me 12m credits haha

i agree that the loss of the pilot is the real loss in the end. it took me a long while to find someone with a backstory as interesting as the one I had.

lol, that is a good one. That silent running can be dangerous in the wrong circumstances.

I'm really more mad at myself than anything. I knew that I didn't have a rebuy but I didn't consider that NPC any threat at all. I just saw a few extra credits.

Thanks for the kind words.

Kudos to the OP for taking it on the chin!
About a year ago I lost about 6 weeks worth of exploration data when I entered a system sandwiched between a neutron and I think a K class, it would only give me an escape vector through the K class and I went pop. It was a strange sense of loss, I experienced emotions no other computer game has ever achieved, friends told me to submit a ticket etc but I reminded myself that it's called Elite Dangerous for a reason and to accept it and move on.
Though I will admit I took a break from Elite for a bit after that!

When the Engineers dropped I sold off every ship except my 'conda, and deliberately stopped trying to make money and just went and did silly things with a big ship.. My final kaboom was halfway through a buckyball run. There I was, totally sidey'd. I don't grind, so it's been slow coming back but I have A-rated and engineered Cobra and AspX in storage and in about another 50 jumps I'll be able to trade in my T7 for a Python. I'm loving it. Right on, Cmdr. Embrace the boom. o7

Sorry for your loss, CMDR.

Lost my Anaconda and crew member Katyn last Sunday bringing my total claim to 424mill credits. How time (and credits) do fly.

Wish I could; I do miss that ship; but I'd feel like I cheated to get it back. To each their own but that's not the ED I want to play.

I totally respect your opinion and attitude on this! If you're happy with that path I say kudos to you!!!

That said, Elite to me is just a game, a game I take pride in progressing in over many hours. And if I were to lose my progress due to a glitch or hardware failure, I would have no qualms about asking FD support to show a customer some love!

Especially as it costs them nothing AND makes the customer very happy.

Win win in my book.

I feel your pain. I lost my brand spanking FDL on her maiden voyage taking her home. Couldn't even afford the rebuy on the toaster.
Lesson learned well. Lots of grinding later and my Annie never leaves dock unless I have the rebuy even if I have to dumb down modules.
