Will all the existing sites for gathering existing geological materials dissappear or be moved? I havn'et played much in a year but I remember having to travel kinda far out to gather crystalline gardens or something. Wondering if a guy should stock up now while we know where they are? Or other things like selenium?
It seems like Odyssey might be changing planetary game play regarding material gathering

It's certainly going to change, and once the Alpha Phase 4 is out I am going to check out some known Horizon farming planets to see what has changed, but at the moment I haven't seen bio with mats attached so that may end altogether, I have seen people gathering mats from wrecks so for Odyssey players that may be a major new source of mats, I will let you know what changes for known mat farming sites so all you have to do is wait a few days or a week, I expect phase 4 before not to long!

I'd guess that the crystal shard sites are hand-crafted, so probably won't change.
I don't think so, as I met it many times around galaxy, why would they put it there?
Stock up on your raw materials while the going is good. Better safe than sorry. Would be nice to be table to shoot the shards down using space-legs then hovering them up with the SRV.

With (admittedly a lot of) luck, oversights like Selenium farming will be addressed in EDO. Fixing some of the impossible to find HGE materials would be welcome too ( you know which ones). But of course, that makes it all too 'easy' doesn't it.
Personally, I'm farming before EDO launches... "A bird in the hand..." FDev has a history of nerfing such things.
My hunch is that Dav's Hope et al will be nerfed.
Sites like Jameson's crash site will be nerfed.
No, they are procedural, there are probably a thousand+ known sites in just the Sanguineous Rim and they can be found all over the galaxy, so procedural indeed.

Now tell me please, Master of no panic, how to farm Selenium in Odyssey without driving around in the SRV for 4 hours and gathering 3 pieces? I' talking about solid farming.
Edit: Oh... and just in case: I'm talking about ODYSSEY here and don't want to hear about Horizons. The great, superb addon called Odyssey.

Have you tried prospecting a planet where you can find it? You might find it easier in the non-odyssey version of things?
I searched the whole internet (and I never exaggerate!)... no really: I tried something more than 10 locations with high Selenium yield (also scanned the planet first, of course). I found 12 units so far
And without being picky, but I'd rather like to use Odyssey as I would have to redo my whole control scheme for Horizons just for Selenium farming (Hotas) Don't want to cry around, but I'd seriously like to find a solution other than using Horizons.
Crash Sites typically have 6 or 12 canisters of Raw Materials. Land, cut the lock, scoop them up with your SRV. Maybe 5 minutes per crash site. You won't always (or even, often) get Selenium, but other grade 3 and 4 are there, and can be traded.
