It seems like there is a way to know what planets are in unexplored star systems?

I try to play as an explorer. I'm several thousand k ly from the Bubble. 99% star system that I visit were not visited before. Feels good, but it's not the point of this thread..

I've noticed something very odd. Whenever I explore a system with water world or earthlike world its 90% explored already. I've litterally discovered like 1k stars around one area, got about 50 water worlds and more than 40 of them were explored already! But it gets even weirder. Last night and todays night I was exploring a "cube" of 50 ly x 50 ly. About 100 stars inside (rough estimate). Almost all were unexplored. The only ones that were explored were... the ones with water worlds (3 of them iirc).... Also, they were explored by the same person!

Am I missing something? Is there a way to see a system with precious planets from galaxy map? Luck?

Sort of yes. The name of a Procedurally generated system is created from the same code as the system itself.

But what you are more likely to be seeing is a region explored before December 2018 (3.3 update that added the DSS) where explorers would commonly only tag higher value or more interesting bodies (similar to how explorers tend to map certain bodies now).

i think riversides explanation is golden, but you might find this or that thread in the exploration subforum interesting.

Marx Guide to finding earth-likes also applies to some extend to waterworlds: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/marxs-guide-to-finding-earth-like-worlds.339164/

a very good explanation to system names hidden "masscode" can be found here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/does-a-system-name-decoder-exist.474489/post-7378591

if you want to follow how the masscode got "decoded" - the thread in the exploration subforum of 2015: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...eals-the-main-star-mostly.186942/post-3016393

see you over there :)

Thanks for this information, I haven't thought about it, probably because I wasn't even playing ED at that time! I've read about old system and it actually makes sense right now.
