It started out like Romeo & Juliet but ended in tragedy.. or the virtue of upgrading life support..
So, undertaking one of the classic "kill 7 pirates" missions in an anarchy system with my luscious new growling Viper (took me a while to realise pirates will scan as clean) and spending hours scouring USS' , picking through floating garbage and the occasional rare artwork, I found myself eventually taking on a dangerous Asp for the penultimate kill.. was looking forward to my big payday too much and got careless.. (not long left on the clock to complete the mission) the maniac rammed me head on in a joust, and despite having some shield left, and him already badly damaged, he managed to take out my canopy! Imagine my horror!
But don't panic, stay calm, there is a station just a jump away, so I power away from the pirate to get safe as the clock ticks down - but wait that platform doesn't offer repairs, not sure what will happen if i get there and cant fix the canopy, ok so with one more jump, there is a coriolus I can fly into full bore - the clock is ticking, my breathing is becoming more laboured - 2 mins remain.. but the station is just 7 seconds away, I can see it clearly right there.. but, NO! I've been interdicted by the feds for a routine scan.. why fed, why now, does your scan show that you've KILLED me? In the panic and without a HUD I was unable to escape, I power away to get back into warp as the clock turns red, but its hopeless now..
Needless to say, death was assured, and just like that I lost hours of work and a big payday. Awesome fun though, though I'll def be upgrading my life support - I thought it was a waste of time, but those few minutes are precious beyond measure!
