General / Off-Topic It will be increasingly difficult to not like the cat.

Cats have also therapeutic properties as several studies have proven.

Stroking or cuddling a cat helps relieving stress as well as fight against blood pressure. As well as fight against dementia.
Yes ! And the purr of the cat is a world of peace.

I could listen to it without limit.

My cat is my copilot. She sleeps on my lap while we fly through space.
...great days. \o/

I'm probably going to get crucified, here, but I'm gonna say women should not have cats until they are done popping out children. Toxoplasmosis is kind of a big issue.
..
I'm not going to crucify you but I am going to say your post is alarmist and an overreaction.

Here, some actual information:

It's estimated that only 1 in 10,000 babies is born with toxoplasmosis in the UK. That's not what I'd describe as a big issue.
Also, it's only a risk if you get toxoplasmosis for the first time while you're pregnant, or a few months before conception.

The hygiene stuff to prevent infection is something everyone 'should' be doing anyway, and eating beef seems to be another risk factor in the UK and a larger source of infection than cats.
Should women not eat beef until they've finished popping out children too?

Yes, that's why half of humanity has toxoplasmosis in various stages of dormancy.
And?
Apart from the exception above humans don't pass it on. It's like chicken pox, you get it and then you're immune.

But anyway, I'm sorry I'm tainting your thread about cute kittens with diseases. I'll stop now.
And here, have a kitten:

That's better ;) o7

Fools and suckers; the lot of you.

Adopt a cat? Meh! They choose to let you serve them; it is that simple. The only reason they 'might' come to you, when you call them. Is for food. Try feeding one and them letting it out and try to call it back again, straight away. No chance. Its belly is full and the only reason they return; is for more food, when they are hungry. We have some, that choose to sleep in our house. They are little murders. Birds, squirrels and all manner of innocent creatures. Are toyed with and often slowly killed, for nothing more than fun. As to their loyalty? They get fresh food, twice a day and yet; they sit outside our neighbours back door and wait for treats.

Cats as pets? Don't make me laugh. Next someone will be trying to tell me, that they are always, stealing my bed. just to keep it warm, for me.

Cats as pets? Don't make me laugh.

There are real things in what you say but not everything.

A cat is with you not just for food.

I had a cat (a cat-dog) that followed me everywhere even without food. I do not count the hundreds of hours of games with him.

He would sit on my shoulders, on my legs. He would jump off a tree or a wall on my back.

Every morning he waited me for hugs when he already had food in his bowl.

And when I threw a ball or a cork, he’d bring it back to my feet several times.

The nights when I went to pick him up in the garden, he obeyed me, to go home, very often.

A friend, an accomplice.

To have a complicity with a cat, it is necessary to be very respectful, never to make violence with him.

And respect his freedom to think and act like a cat.

If you do it, the cat will thank you a thousand times.
