Ships It worth the Highest Ly range

Ok so I have been running a lot of passenger missions with my Asp X and worked out well, but should I pickup the inexpensive Dolphin? The claims are it can do 30+ Ly and hold better Cabins. The internal set up I am running with the Asp is a 3A fuel scoop, ADV Descovery Scanner, 32 ton gas tank, Dock C, with smaller cargo rack. Shields are only 5E, I am getting about 21Ly with a 5B FSD.

Mine jumps mid thirties with cabins, depending on the layout 40ly+ without, around 39ly for normal use. She is also fantastic ship to fly and for planetary landings. Fast and nimble especially in SC. Just love that boost sound and so pretty to boot.

There is not much differences between luxury and other classes. Payouts are just a little higher... What you should do with your AspX is to remove some mass : change the shield for a D-rated one (better protection and lighter), the FSD for a 5A. Then you should be able to do passenger missions faster - less jumps, more time to haul passengers. Next if you have the money, replace the fuel scoop by a higher class (5 or 6), C, B or A-rated for increased scooping rate : again, less time spent scooping, more time to haul passengers :D With that kind of settings, a Dolphin can not match an AspX.

However as Cmdr Tel stated, the Dolphin is fun to fly, especially for the screaming engine :) And if you absolutely need Luxury cabins, then... no other choices in this range of prices !

I don't think a switch to Dolphin is a good idea if you already have AspX. Yes, you can fit luxury cabins on the Dolphin but they are only 5B with room for 4 pasangers. The AspX can hold 6C first class for 12 passangers what gives you much more flexibility in terms of mission variety.

One of my Dolphins does 46.65 Ly jumps. Very nice exploration vessel. I like to have several different exploration ships.
Been to Sag A* in a Clipper and later in a FdL. I like my 42 Ly Python, my 37 Ly Cutter, my 53 Ly Orca and all the others I have ...

I've got a 52ly ranged Orca. Build here:

Currently on my way back from a trip to the Perseus arm. Will be modifying her a bit more and will be using her on the Circumnavigation trip planned after 2.4 drops. Superb exploration boat.

MY 53 Ly Orca is similar to Cds Voorheez. I have a very good 53,6% FSD in it and 4D dirty drive 29,1% Thrusters (460 m(s boost). Life Support and Sensors are lightweight modded. Shields are enhanced low power modded (also lightweight).

I find the Dolphin very nice for VIP passenger missions (exploration ones) and in the mean time discovering new systems. Mine has a jump range of around 42Ly and it's just fun to fly, it's very manoeuvrable and looks great.
