I want to find a star system far away and name it after my wife "because brownie points" . I mean 450 billion star systems?.. I think everyone will get a chance.

It would be cool to buy/build/name your own port bringing materials in from other systems.

choose what goods you want to import/ export.

manage economy etc.

Since its an online game everyone can come visit.

So, will the name we set be accepted, or will it be like star naming scams in reality?

Also, faction management mechanics are not planned to be a part of the game. I got the vibe that they didn't want players having too much power (imagine a player driven faction that you need to be a part of to not be murdered?)

I kinda believe that Elite will have to keep going forward. Naming a system? Hell, even ""butt" is better than thousands of LHSs XXXX. I dont see the problem, the names can be approved by a player council of some sort, or you can name 3 system at max, or any other mechanism used in other MMos. Faction and starport building and management? It must happen, most of the people will get tired of grinding to the most expensive ships... And then what? I actually wait and im willing to pay for "My Staport is My Castle" expansion.

I mean, there are 400 bilion stars out there! Even if you restrict more than half of it for "vanilla" experience, the Elite is such a perfect "skeleton" for future glory, that it WILL happen. Sooner or later.

They could handle the naming like they do with Commander names, right? And yes it would actually be cool if you had your "own" system. Something you could call home and where you have some influence in what's going on. It's not like there aren't enough systems out there. We would be Kings! Yay! :)

Talking about freedom in gaming... Nope, some people taste would be offended...

Would be cool to set up a 100 ly bubble, far from SOL, when people would be free to do all the stuff you write about. I bet that within a year the place would look like colorful and crazy chinatown, full of wierd stuff, commercials and easy to shot down wealthy people. It would make the rest of galaxy look like a Tatooine :p.
