Aside from a few technical problems this game is shaping up brilliantly.
Personally, I loved the originals and want this game to extend further with better graphics and more content etc etc
It seems that David Braben and co are making the game that they'd like to play themselves. Thats just great, because there is a hell of alot of us (me included) who want to play along and share that vision. We don't want an arcade space game, we want a sophisticated space simulator that is at once fun and rewarding in the long run. We want to have our breath taken away at the sights of the unimaginably huge galaxy around us...We want comprehensive flight controls which can change our maneoverability and how fast our shields recharge (we've got that, and more)
But thats not all. A new wave of young un's is upon us and they'll get to play this and become the second generation of 'eliters', because they will be fascinated by the real science behind the laws which govern the game, hooked by the intracacies of spaceship combat, and intrigued by the array of bits you can bolt to your ship (nevermind trying out any of the other 24 ships)
And now, a mere 3 weeks away, ALOT of new content is coming...making the game evermore closer to Brabens vision...
Sure, a galaxy wide wipe is coming...I will miss my lovely eagle but i'm more excited by the prospect of everyone being back in a sidey with 1000 credits - 10000 more players too I hear.
So lets toast a toast to David Braben and the Frontier team, the artists, the special effects team, the coders, the animators, the music creators, and say "We share your passion for this creation, for we are ELITERS"
