Not every space station is going to have the items you want or need.
In real life not every shop is going to stock the item you desire, so.... you go online to buy it.
If an item is not available from a space station, how about allowing the player to "Order" the item and that item is charged at 10% higher than the normal charge. You could even put a time limit on it to make it more realistic, say.... you order an item, 24 hours later, it's available for pick up from any space station.
