Managing expectations 101:
The parcel is due to arrive today. The delivery company expects an estimated window of between 9am & 5pm. They hope the parcel will arrive at 9am, but realise it may not arrive until 5pm.
Scenario #1 Instead of telling you 'between 9am and 5pm' they tell you 'after 9am'. The parcel arrives at noon, you are disappointed that it's late.
Scenario #2 Instead of telling you 'between 9am and 5pm' they tell you 'before 5pm'. The parcel arrives at noon, you are pleased that it's early.
The parcel arrived at the same time either way.
