I've had a bit of break from playing Elite recently but thought I would have a blast on it last night. After the update had finished I jumped in my Viper and headed out for a bit of bounty hunting fun. After a while I decided to checkout some USS's and I came across some unclaimed gold. Great I thought no ships on my radar so I opened my cargo hatch and started scooping. As soon as I picked up the fist canister boom NPC ships appeared on the radar and I saw a message saying "Can't believe that worked guys". My first reaction was I couldn't believe I got suckered into that. I didn't stick around to find out how many ships there were. Fortunately my Viper is fully kitted out so I had no problem escaping but after that episode I thought that was really cool. I also sold my stolen gold on the black market for a nice profit. I haven't done any trading in my T7 yet so that might be different story.

I haved this situation after upgrading game in 1.2. With gold. Damn, its good feeling.
Samt thing happened to me. Picked up the gold, saw the message, had 3 Anaconda's pop up on me! Managed to scoop on more container up then gave the Conda's a try with my Cobra (C class mostly).... I ran before even scratching the paint on one of them, but it was quite a bit of excitement!

Possibly pirates, I didn't stick around to find out I ran away like a chicken.
I did have other stolen gold on board at the time, they opened fire straight away.
They used to have this scenario in Beta 1, it was always one of the more fun encounters. They're usually Pirates btw.

Yeah, it's a funny setup.
I had a look at the 3 Condas from my Clipper - and before leaving, simply afterburned right through their Formation that opened Fire
Didn't have the proper gear to stick around, but would have been a game of 2.5km Chicken anyway *g*
