It's like FEDEX

I'm very certain that mode switching was not a part of any comments I've made. Now stacking missions is a different beast...just wait long enough and the BB refreshes with new missions; no need to mode switch. Kinda like waiting for rares to respawn.

Whaat?? :) I asked you if this was about mode switching, you replied 'yes, yes it is!'...

As much as Frontier likes to refer to the "realism" of the game... it isn't realistic at all. There is no life to this gamel. In this kind of future, why is there no communications when you enter a populated system? Where are the radio stations? Where are the communications from the ports and planets? Seriously, why is there no radio?

I'd love for some nice, voiced AI comms (of both sexes ;) ) to make the place feel more lively - but how to do it well, without oodles of repetition (Oblivion/Skyrim anyone), using robotic-sounding text-to-speech/pitch shifting (Op Flash/Arma), or having to collate vast libraries of phrases (Falcon 4). I'd pay for a voice pack expansion, no problem! ...but what has that got to do with mission stacking? :D

What good is regular comms when you have FTL ships? At
50 time the speed of light your transmission is either severely blue shifted or does not reach me at all.

Your precious Relativity is thankful not present in our ED Universe. Get over it.

Why would you NOT want more communication from the game? I like the ideas in this thread about adding more Life to the game.

10,000 Stations and nothing to watch/listen to.

I stacked missions back when the Hauler was my first huge upgrade. And it didn't require anything more then waiting. If someone wants to switch modes to get more refresh on the board, who cares.
It's not hurting anything.

I kinda skimmed through this thread and got lost in the FedEx and alternate reality references, but, two things...

1. I have done enough missions to have earned a FedEx symbol for my ship.

2. Walter will tell you that switching realities or universes is not a good idea. And that was BEFORE the observers invaded.

In this kind of future, why is there no communications when you enter a populated system? Where are the radio stations? Where are the communications from the ports and planets? Seriously, why is there no radio? Did they all become boring in the future? How are we supposed to be excited about trucking fireworks to some station if we cannot see the fireworks when they go off? Why can we not see NPC's unloading our cargo while we sit in the station? Where are all the women? Did it become normal in the future to not have any women pilot ships?

As far as stacking missions... it would be realistic to be able to stack as much as your cargo could hold without having to leave the station, or take a nap, or sleep... that's how I see logging out and logging back in anyway.
To be fair to the game, you can change your player avatar to female in the game options.

They get shot up for a parking ticket.

To the OP: You are a bike COURIER. You know, the guys paid to move very small amounts of data or objects and get paid pretty well for it.

If they could wait for bulk shipment like FEDEX, they would.

You know that Fedex subcontracts to freelance couriers right?

So technically you are STILL Fedex.

It's all about luck.
Sometimes when doing cargo runs, there are hardly any missions, at other times I load in a few wait some minutes and get several more requiring me to jump to lots of other systems.
Take note of the mission timers, get the long running ones, do something else in between (like laundry or whatever), check again and fill up a few times.
I too think the number of missions offered should be increased though.
The chance of getting a few suited ones is very low already, let alone the chance to get a good one for the 'occupation' you're currently roleplaying.

Is this some bizarre justification for logging between modes? Do what you want ingame, as long as it's not an exploit, no need for ridiculous analogies..

Fedex and other haulage companies wait for contracts to come through, they fill up their trucks/aircraft accordingly. They don't magically make freight appear out of thin air..

Agreed. The driver doesn't start the engine, see one package, and turn off the engine. And then start the engine, look back and see 5 packages, and turn off the engine. And then start the engine, look back and see 15 packages.

They pull into the loading dock, and wait for the packages to be put into the truck. In one sitting. No magical means to fill up the truck faster than the loaders can get them on.

I agree that we can be like FedEx and stack packages. But to the OP, make sure the analogy works on both ends (stacking and loading) :)

With that said, I don't care how anyone wants to play their game. If you do the multi-mode login trick, more power to you. Get it while you can, and give thanks that such a mechanic lasted as long as it did. I have no idea whether they'll close it down or not. Stacking, they'll probably keep, but you won't be able to quick-load your FedEx spaceship.

Just how much time would all this take? You want to sit and watch as they unload 250 tons of cargo from your ship? You want them to code a fireworks show hoping someone will be there to watch it?
We will be getting avatar creation that lets you choose you persona.
I do agree it needs more background action happening in port. The same trucks going in a circle is mindless. Need some npcs roaming the hallways and stair wells.and some comms chatter would be nice. You don't even need it to be intelligible, just there.

I think I'm in the wrong thread. Is this the thread to argue that your spaceship is more like an owner-operator trucker rather then a FedEx truck and that the 150 tonne missions should have multiple drop points that still pay reasonably exorbitant amounts per drop?

Ah that explains it then, that’s why they are always sneaking up on my blind side bumping into me when I try to get in or out of a station.

Trying to squeeze past me when I am in the slot and generally acting like Richards.

Then to cap it all off they have a tantrum and fine ME! 400cr

What i never understood with delivery missions is you get one where they are desperate for a commodity. So you fill up your ship with the required amount and think I'll take a bit extra.

You arrive at your destination and give them their desperately needed goods. Then you find the extra you bought is worth less than what you paid for it!

Well, motorcycle couriers also take multiple packages / documents at the time in that box strapped to the motorcycle. Even the pizza guys take multiple orders at a time. There's actually a lot of planning and strive for efficiency in all kinds of delivery systems, even pizza. In one of the pizza delivery chains in my country, there's actually 1 guy in each store whose single task is to organize orders in routes so that the motorcycle guys can take as much orders as they can stuff in the bike's box and deliver them in the least possible amount of time.

There's not a delivery system that would take just 1 item at a time, it would be very ineficient.
