Its LIVE!

13gb!

That's like 13 days downloading... -_-

I really need new internoots.

3 months ago, openreach said I'll have fibre in my area in 6 months.
When I checked today, I'll have fibre in my area in 5 months! Woooh!

So I'll have fibre by April....!

2019…! Wooh!

If there's an Internet cafe close by with a net image machine that gives you full access ( they reboot from a read only net image each time) then you could download the files, copy it to a USB stick and bring it home. Or if someone in the family has proper broadband...

I'm in and did my first FSD Drive upgrade using the new system.

Took a 5A for the Chieftain from stock to a 50% increase in OM in under 3 minutes.

Jump range went from 20.1 to 33.12Ly

Ran out of a material so I could not complete the G5 process. I was about ½ of the way through, so not sure if 50% OM is the max or not. Damn! Of all the materials to run out of!

(I had dumped a bunch of that material right around the time Frontier sampled my account for the Beta! DOH!)

Will do.
Its weird though, both Jameson Memorial and Vonarburg in Wyrd (where everybody is starting the beta btw) have 29 ships but the T-10 and the Chieftain are missing

I think they fixed it... I was able to buy the Chieftain from the Shipyard they moved us all to for the Beta.

Just got done G5 upgrading ALL the Chieftain's A rated modules. Took me less than 10 minutes to do the entire ship. Ran out of mats for the FSD upgrade mid way through the G5 process. Still ended up with a 50% OM and 33.12Ly range. Not sure how much better I could get if I had been able to keep going.

But so much for all the outrage! ;)

Heading back home to my home base to A/B compare my previous God Rolled 5A FSD drives to this 5A I just made using the new system.

Yep. Totally independent of the LIVE version. And don't forget... EVERYTHING you do in the Beta gets wiped when the 3.0 version goes live. So don't do anything in game you are not willing to do all over again in the final release. ;)

Hmmm... so, if I delete my commander on beta for giggles, he'll still be there on live. Again, what I expect, but gotta ask. :)

I wouldn't mind some context around this. What was your "start state"? Here are my assumptions:

1. You already have most if not all engineers opened and Grade 5'ed.
2. You had a pile of mats already stored
3. You already had blueprints pinned for all the modules possible, and for the specific changes you "like".

I'm not trying to defend the grind argument, I genuinely would like to know how people are starting out on this. The core of the grind argument seems to be around how many mats are required and grinding to get them, so it's hard to tell if the assumption was that going from G1->G4 would take too many of someone's existing mats or people simply don't have the mats to start with.

Not only for giggles - if you run out of money (for whatever reason), you can restart in the beta with a blank slate and 100 MCr. in the bank.

The first complaints that this is not even enough to buy and outfit a 'conda are also already up.

Wait. What? That's outrageous! Frontier, I demand you fix this now! Anything at the close of beta should carry over into my live account! And fix it for the live players too, 'cause it ain't fair we just get that in Beta! :D

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. :D

Alright, time for another dumb question from me: beta's up and running on my machine, but I have none of my custom binds. I know where they live (AppData) on my Live version. How do I get them in Beta?

No, I'm not gonna "get gud" with mouse and keyboard. :p

My HOTAS is plugged in and still largely useless unless I rebind EVERYTHING. That's a LOT of work just so I can fly in beta...

I have a saved separate file for my hotas. It was there when I started beta after I plugged my hotas in. Might try making a separate config for yours and rename it. Make sure it has the same name on the inside as the outside though. :)
