Have been a die-hard core miner for most of my years but decided to return to bounty hunting. Picking up multiple massacre missions is what I call accepting below average pay for what is available elsewhere,. However, I do so because it helps avoid getting bored doing the same thing over and over again. My main issue is that although this is considered lower is low paid work, why do we still instantly lose all bounty credit for our kills we made prior to our ship being destroyed? This seems unfair given how dangerous hunting is, and missions seem to still credit us for those same kills. What I’m saying is ‘balance’ is not only about how much we get paid for a kill, it’s also about being recognised for it regardless of what happens afterwards.
It’s not all about money, but also recognition.

Not balanced with what? Trade, mining, exploration and smuggling all involve carrying a commodity that is at risk on loss of ship.
The argument whether combat is more risky is pointless, risk is 100% subjective. Exploration data loss can subjectively be savage, months and months of data lost in one loss of your ship.
I love combat but I don't agree. You don't even lose your missions any more.

I disagree. You cannot compare mining or even exploring with any combat scenario. I’ve explored all the types you mention and not one (apart from smuggling) comes anywhere near to being exposed to the same danger.
It sounds like you're doing some bounty hunting for the utilitarian betterment of the galaxy, instead of rock farming. Is this what you mean?
Have you tried open trading in a CG?
