It's the Little Things

Alright, so something I really dig about the update?

Seeing your ship on the menu screen. It's all about the spaceship flying, right? For me, seeing the big, bad, and beautiful No Data Available sitting on the pad ready to rock and roll?

Yeah, baby! Let's go misbehave.

What else you folks appreciate out there?
I must admit I like that. Looks right.
Right good.

I would like to see some GG advice on the hints however. (y)

As much as I love ED, I fell back in love again with Faster Than Light fully modded Captain's Edition and found out the little things I miss in ED: the science fiction story bits which lead you to choices. A crew member telling you after serving on your ship for months that he is a spy after leading you to an ambush, an enemy asking for asylum on your ship by defecting and then using your kindness to wreak havoc on your ship, miners attacking you for scrap, crew gets killed and only one brave member has to do everything, a group of alien mantis teleporting on your ship and you depressurizing section of the ships to fend them off, a fake space gas station, a mysterious device which steals people inside nebulas..

In comparison, in ED the little things are for example UI and paintjobs and 2 minutes wonders like anomalies and lazily modeled POIs bodies. Very little things.

I just can't do that 8-bit looking gaming these days. Had this come out 20 years ago, it might have been great. Today, I wouldn't want a free copy.

FTL is amazing and whilst not directly comparable I would love some crew management in ED.
I have not tried yet but am I right in saying more functions can be assigned to button presses now? If so this will be a boon for keyboard owners as well as voice attack users.

Wish I had logged off with my Corvette on Monday night.
After the update I was greeted by my homely little Adder. Lol.

Anyway, the new UI is really sweet and way overdue.

Ooo! Another thing!

It's not good for balance, but, my FDLs are enjoying that sweet armor upgrade thanks to the additional class one slot. :ROFLMAO:

The ship operation is very visceral, it always brings me back.

Just powered up after the update. I like the current ship on the main screen and the extra bit of pilot detail; that looks cool. The Accidental Destruction button in the main menu options is nicely flagged and separated as well.
