I've been away for a bit...

Ummm.....

So what's changed then? Where should I head towards - I've got this ridiculously over-powered Corvette and an Anaconda that can leap tall buildings the range is so high :)

Not signed on (apart from a brief foray for WP 24) since 2.2 went live and am a little at a loss for where to go / what to do....

And there was me thinking Traveller didn't need a Conda to leap tall buildings, I thought he just lifted them up and walked under them....Never meet your heroes eh?;)

Is anyone taking a fighter when exploring now? Is there any real benefit or is just fun to have something to bomb around a planet in?

Yes, awesome selfie's, canyon races, as you know not many enemies outside the bubble, so not much fighting...yet.
+1

They can also be useful as nimble scout craft to find regions-of-interest planetside. I am in the same boat as you are Traveller: my last login was in April. I only started playing again after 2.2 dropped. I figured I might as well join the SC mission and do some exploring, but at my own pace

Seeing this makes me wish there was a mode to park in orbit of a planet so you can watch it go by, instead of weirdly floating next to it, or flying in SC. *ahem Frontier cough*

if you are in the bubble, go to eranin, azeban orbital. that outpost is really close to an elw, and you can watch the elw turning below you from there.

So you are perfectly equipped for:
Distant Stars with your "Anaconda that can leap tall buildings the range is so high"
and
Heavy Weight Champions Circuit with "this ridiculously over-powered Corvette"

:)

I've been spending most of my time trying to solve the puzzle of the ruins (not sure if they're alien or "Guardian")...except I'm not sure there is a puzzle to be solved. There is a theory for every Cmdr working on it, and none of them have any proof that they are correct (although Mengy has some nice numbers but hasn't been able to find anything using those numbers).

The ruins do look cool though!

I might seem a little down
You may notice a big frown
Because my favourite planets turned brown
Which makes me a very sad clown

[sad] <- my impression of a sad clown.

Your favourite planets have turned brown? You like poo planets? Why do you like poo planets?

Also... just to highlight how bad things were when I signed on again, with a new joystick that while it was *exactly* the same button layout as the old one did not transfer the settings over AND I couldn't remember what key / toggle / switch did what on the HOTAS AND I was in deep space... somewhere AND I hadn't flown the Corvette through a slot in almost 2 months...

This was me:

Well, first things last, have you been to a neutron star?

Oh wait, you're probably one of them fancy beta types.
