Ive finally made it...

To within 1000 lys of the Great Annihilator. So close to Sag A* i can almost taste it. I started on this journey sometime late August/ early September and im almost to my goal. Seen some beautiful sites but unfortunately have yet to lay claim to any significant discoveries apart from a few undiscovered neutrons. Im mapped out some gems that i think are hidden for my return journey home. It'll be a long detour around to Colonia but my potential name on some black holes and carbon stars is worth it. Anybody else near Sag A*? Would love to wing up with somebody in a day or two for the final stretch.

Update: i have made it to the center and am now heading home.

Congratulations (nearly)! I know a lot of people have done it but that doesn't detract from the fact that getting to Sagittarius A* is a HUGE achievement. Careful with all that exploration data!

Proud to say im currently at 89% hull integrity. Only had a few nasty planet landings and once i forgot i was heading into a black hole system and didnt throttle down... m grateful that ED black holes arent all that dangerous cuz that should have been the end for me lol

Update: i made it to the Great Annihilator. Thankfully this time i remembered to throttle down, so my experience in this system so far has been very pleasant. Its very serene here, which isn't something you shouldn't normally say about a massive black hole lol. I'll be posting pics and any discoveries once i reach the bubble again

If you get too close it knocks you out of supercruise, which causes hull damage, and then when you warp out you suffer heat damage, but other than that, black holes are harmless. If you try to fly into one, you hit an invisible wall and youll just stay there. Ironically, black holes are the least dangerous celestial bodies in the game.

Hi! Congrats on making it to the core region. The Shepard Mission, a 6-month endurance expedition, is currently exploring the core and will be at the Great Annihilator and Sag A over the next week!

Id love to meet up with your players providing any are on xbox. Im currently en route to the "eye of fire" above the plane before i descend down into Sag A*. I havent had social interaction with a single player; apart from the one time i needed the fuel rats to save me, add that was only a few days after I started playing. Space dementia is real....

well done! I did that last year and it was probably the single biggest achievement I have ever done in a game. I was exhausted by the time I got back.

Oh im pretty drained myself. Definitely gonna try another part of the game once i return to the bubble. I did some minor trading before I left to afford an asp, so im thinking of trying combat before the black calls to me again

Congrats!
If you are going to Colonia remember Jaques is independent, so you might want to keep your data and sell it to a faction you want to rank up in. When you get back. It might be important when doing combat. Some ships are rank locked.
On the other hand your data will be safe. :)

So does exploration data level you up with federation and empire?

And the local group. Better missions etc.

Alternately Alex's suggestion is a good one.

You are spoilt for choice ;)

When I came back from Sag A* I spread my data around a whole bunch of places where I wanted the rep. Of course the big danger of this is that you're risking flying around the populated bubble carrying loads of valuable data. Don't die!

Couldn't One just play in Solo until they sell all their data? NPC's don't really bother an explorer with no cargo just flying to sell their data do they?
