I've found Faulcon from Faulcon deLacy.

I'm very interested in the origins of Elite and where some of the original concepts had their genesis. It recently dawned on me where "Faulcon deLacy" gets the first half of its name.

Faulcon deLacy, manufacturers of iconic ships like the Cobra Mk III, Sidewinder and the Anaconda, were originally mentioned in the original game manual from the 1984 release of "Elite". The manual was written by Robert Holdstock who also wrote The Dark Wheel, a novella that came with the original game.

Holdstock wrote under a number of pen names. He wrote a series of horror novels under the name of "Robert Faulcon".

Now ... anybody know where deLacy comes from?

I wish I could rep you. but I've given you too much!

Awesome find. Well done!

I've read a fair bit of his Fantasy work and some of the academic criticisms of his novels and short stories. It's really interesting that in the wider genre he's unknown for the Dark Wheel, but celebrated for Mythago Wood, whereas pretty much everyone I've spoken to in Elite circles has never read any of his other stuff, although I expect Michael Brookes has.

Holdstock's generally regarded as "Britain's greatest mythologist".
