Hey guys.

I've been looking after my grandparents the past week, and they've told me that for all my time, (I've been there a lot), they're going to buy the SSD that I've wanted to get for a while.

My question is, how do I move my OS to the new drive? Cheers.

Certain manufacturers of SSD (Samsung, for example) allows the download of a transfer software (data migration) from one disk toward another. Personally, I use Clonezilla for my disk images. It is excellent. But there are also other publishers (NORTON GHOST ou ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE ...)

I like the Apricorn Sata Wire products. I have the older USB 2 one myself, where it plugs into USB on one end, and a 2.5" SATA device on the other. Their software then handles the clone. Easy to run from Windows, no need to install. After copying, you can keep the USB cable around to access other drives.

Biggest snag: it isn't cheap, more than a budget SSD in itself.

Yes it's very expensive. Clonezilla is free but there is a bit more complicated and technical to use.
