I've joined the Python Club, good to be here

Just bought a Python yesterday after the Diso CG ended as well, the discounted 47 mil one at Ridley Scott station. Couldn't resist at that discounted price, gave it a little spin, then immediately parked it and got in the Asp for some exploring. Can't afford to properly kit the Python out yet so gonna earn a bit more first.

I spent a few weeks in a 90m Fer de Lance and to be honest, it's (at best) half the ship the Python is.

Sure you can cherry-pick a few lucky huge cannon shots out for your Youtube channel to show how awesome it is, but honestly it's a ship for people who are amused with pretty colors and flashing lights. And pvpers, but I already covered them with "amused by flashing lights," so I repeat myself...

Most of the FdL love is from people trying to justify why they spent that much money on a second-rate ship.

Of the two, the Python isn't the one that looks more like a Ferrari. The only thing luxurious about the Python is that the station actually valets them, unlike Faulcon deLacy's smaller ships.

The Fer deLance looks are classic; the soul of spaceflight. Sure, it has a jump range just higher than an Orbit shuttle, and it goes wrong all the time, and the handling is a bit dodgy, but you can't call yourself a real Spaceflight-head without having owned a Zorgon Peterson.

The Python is a workhorse, and ultimately the more practical ship, but it doesn't have the passion ZPG engineers put into their ships.

I own a Zorgon Peterson, its called an Adder ;)

Each to their own....the Python looks more stealthy....the FDL looks retro lol

See, @Skuli GETS IT!

These pictures might convey what I mean better than words. See? Firarry.

But hey, you can be a Zorgon Peterson fanboy till you're dead in the ground. Plant your flag of passion on the ol' dusty hill of the past, and build a rusty ol' dusty ol' outpost with its back toward the future. Then, you and your fellow ZorgPeters can finally praise your humble and loving god, a wheelbarrow with an oval tire. S'cool. ;)

Why are none of them in red?

I rest my case.

I mean

Case closed. ;)

don't tell anyone my CMDR is currently in a Python now

If I could liken the global spacecraft industry through the human body, Faulcon deLacy is the brain, Gutamaya is the face, Lakon is the stomach and Zorgon Peterson is the heart and soul.

I joined the club this past weekend. I had to sell everything but my Cobra to do it. After flying an Asp for awhile the jump range feels a bit lackluster, but other than that it rocks my socks.

I think it sounds great, too. It has the trademark Faulcon DeLacy sound: a quiet modesty that reflects its exceptional build quality and downplays its power.

The unquestioning, blind love of the python is unjustified.

I have had one for the last two months, and yes, its an amazing bit of kit. Spent the last month as a Max A class gunboat. It does melt stuff. It is, and I suspect will still be long term, my go to ship, but.....

.....last week I added the FDL. I did not get it at first but it has slowly been convincing me. Its a focussed killer. Not better at RES farming, but for PvP? I know which one I would want to be in. It will run rings round most ships, and exhaust those who resist. It can choose to stay or leave without resorting to hyperspace.

The python. Its a bit of a grand tourer.
The FDL. It's a track day car.

I love them both. For very different reasons.

Aesthetics. I do not care too much about what my large stick looks like. Quite happy with the utilitarian python, and the going going FDL.

Cheers

End of transmission.

This is what confuses me, how can a human piloted ship be fantastic @ PvP, but not PvE?

I think its great at both, but the python is better at melting stuff that is stupid....eg most AI. Its just that the FDL can bring guns on target better.

@brock
Yes. You get used to it. Requires a deliberate nose up snooty style :) Main issue is that at the moment the huge hard point has few c4 options :(

Both have their place.

I had to ask as you're not the 1st player to state that about the FDL, (good @ PvP compared to PvE).
