General / Off-Topic I've just noticed a feature... that I've never seen on any other forum

[haha]

It is one of the most used features on the forums actually. ;)

Unfortunately, you can't also block the threads they produce. That is the only feature addition that would top Ignore User on the forum's Top 10 Most Used Feature List.

Maybe Frontier realizes that if thread blocking were made possible, once you remove all the "ED Is Dying" threads along with the "Nerf This Exploit" threads, there would be little left on here. :)

I've never blocked anyone.

Well, actually I did go through the excercise of blocking Devari for about 20 minutes, but that was just to see exactly how it worked. Once I saw, I removed it.

Ignore user feature is absolutely unheard of on other forums. I'm amazed that i can fully block another user!

lol? ... i think you haven't seen anything then. I haven't seen a single forum where you CANT block a user. any website / forum should have such feature and 99% of them do.

Yeah, it's a very common feature. I haven't seen a gaming forum without it yet.

Partly, because I don't care.

But mainly because threads stop making sense when random posts are missing, and no one quotes it. Lol

Before anyone else gets confused, the OP isn't being serious about this. It's meant as a dig at some of the people he interacted with in his last thread.

If that's the case, the OP thinks quite a lot of himself. I can't think of a single person that I'd follow from thread to thread, remembering every word. I don't even remember what I said just now.

To be fair, his last thread is still active and on the front page, so I really meant "his other current thread", and besides... wait, what was I talking about again?

The only difference I've noticed is that when you ignore someone the forum act like they don't exist. You won't even see something saying "Ignored post by xxx" like you usually do.

So far only used it once and that was because the user was obviously not worth talking to and kept insisting that anyone who didn't love the game completely should never play it or talk about it on the forums, so I applied the same logic to reading his posts.

The thing about blocking people is that you gonna end up in an echo chamber if your blocking them for an opinion,i personally have never used the ignore feature on a forum, never will.

I just do my best to just ignore the person but at least im reminded every now and then of a different perspective.

I wonder how many people wont see this message:D

In Thread tools top right - there is also "Ignore Thread" option as well.

Indeed. It's too easy to decide to block someone because you don't agree with them. Never used the feature, never will. Too tempting. Even the worst apples in here have valid points sometimes. I agree sometimes. Can't ignore that.
