I've lost my suspension of disbelief. This isn't subtle manipulation, its an exploit

not hard to figure out who those guys are,, wonder how many times they got to prove their point that numbers win?

I'm not in favor of these goon-able tactics, and I wouldn't mind if FDev did something about it.

But, those in a power being gooned can do something about it right now. Just organize and set better preparation targets. Reddit has excellent subreddits for each of the powers and, at the moment, seems to be a much better place for that sort of organization than these forums.

The Archon's people are here, for instance.

Thats a bit harsh :(

You would actually need a 10 to 1 ratio of "helping" players to unhelpful players to ensure there are 0 systems on their 10 preparation list.
You should be able to expose blatant sabotage and expel them from the faction, or put a bounty on their head.

i have been fighting them for years in various games, but they are like the zerg of starcraft, almost impossible to beat unless you choose to zerg your self.

ALD's people seem to be organized quite well, or at least vocal in attempts of organization. Go check their highest prepared system ;)

You also need to purchase the materials at 10000 cr per ton to have that much. So someone or a group of players have spend maybe 50 million cr on materials, then actually delivered over 5000 T down there.

Well - there has to be a Kumo Crew Agent there to accept the deliveries and who sent hinm there? Most likely Delaine himself, so it's his own fault.

Seriously - although I'm not opposed to fifth column tactics, the reasons why any of the leaders would send agents to loss-making systems in the first place is beyond me.

Thats one of the reasons I find this one so funny.
Our (ADL) highest system (or most tons shipped by players) is worth -2 cr. Its stupid.

This one is worth -20. How does that definition of comedy go? If it happens to you its a tragedy, if it happens to someone else its comedy?

Yeah, I know. These goonable tactics hit everyone, and someone or some group, because they want to mess with us, or maybe they are just not very smart, are preparing a world in the middle of our space with a negative CC.

Traitors/goons whatever one wants to call them are going to be able to have some impact. The trick is to make sure they don't overwhelm the legitimate players. So while they are doing this one goon-able thing, I don't see them being able to alter the overall path of ALD.

If there was a legitimate way to expose sabotage, I'd be all for tossing those out of a Power. I'm not sure how to do that reliably. Some people are just going to go to the system nearest them, or on their trade route, and not worry about if it is good or bad for their Power. Are they traitors or just selfish? Maybe both.

I'm also not sure who would make the decision to eject someone. If FDev does it they would need a set of criterion, and if it was left to the players... well, I can see that leading to far more trouble than it solves.

Maybe in the end they won't let us prepare systems that generate a negative CC. I don't see a practical administrative alternative. At the moment, though, I think the loyal players within a faction should be able to organize and set decent targets.

Well they can make it that systems can only be expanded by direct connection to the existing borders.

I hope they never do this. There are strategic reasons to prepare and expand into systems which are away from a Power's main area.

Also, there are bad choices one can make which are next to your existing system. At the moment some group is gooning ALD by preparing a system well within our existing space that will yield a negative CC.

At the same time, player groups banded together yesterday and added to our Prep target list a juicy system away from our main area and right near the Feds.

Surely that's not going to be a candidate come the end of the week anyway, so those prep deliveries will be for nothing.
I mean last week our Aisling prep numbers were 100k and more. 5k wouldn't make the top 10.

It's designed as when there are choices involved where many people vote for something, generally most often common sense and the best choices will prevail given enough numbers of people voting.

Whether the system mentioned by the OP is ultimately good or bad for the Archon, I don't know, but it is certainly possible that a fifth column, traitors, jerks etc. have being sabotaging the progress of the faction they have pledge to.
(...)
I don't know why someone would go to the trouble of doing that, it seems more in keeping with Other Space Sims.

It's turning the game mechanics on the game itself.
This video explains it pretty well:
