I've lost patience again, because of boredom. Again.

Before, it was the "eternal 7 second approach" to destinations. And the arbitrary engineering grind. I just kind of wandered off. I certainly didn't spend money on ARX.

Now? No progress indicator on engineers, and generally BUGGED engineers. And vague wording, 6 covert theft and heist, is that a logic-grammar "or" or is it "complete 6 theft and also 6 heist missions"? FDev certainly didn't say, people had to just keep doing them and hope it worked. And I got bored waiting for the board to refresh anyway. Waiting is not good gameplay, maybe someone should tell FDev that at some point?

And very simply, I am pretty sick of running past my ship for EVERY mission. Landing gets same-ey, but at least you have to avoid SOMETHING. Walking past your ship, the exact same way, every time you want to get or turn in a mission, or check a station's shop? It's the worst thing a game can be- BORING.

Performance and balance is bad, but it doesn't drive me away from games nearly as fast as them just being boring. And there's so much boring stuff that requires JUST enough interaction that I can't afk and do something else in between.

Oh, and the spectacular data cost for any engineering, it's effectively IMPOSSIBLE to do that without missions, which again, is mission board refreshes, and if the specific material you want isn't there? MORE WAITING.

Wow. OP really does seem to be struggling, probably best they have some time away - this is just a game after all! (y)
Posting just to post, huh. I've identified sections of the game that are boring and add nothing to gameplay, and THAT is the best you can come up with?

People should be able to play how they like, if you want to take the elevator and walk across the hangar every concourse trip, that's totally fine by me. The hangar is a lovely addition to look at your ship, even if the top is a mystery because jump jets don't work.

But it's the exact same sprint, every time. Holding forward and holding sprint occasionally, nothing more.

And large engineering costs, with no ability to actually find the items at will.

But, you went with the ad hominem attack. "OP is struggling" therefore the points that I raised are invalid? Because I can't see any other point in your post, but I'll refrain from an ad hominem attack, or personal insult, myself.

And it doesn't end there, the ridiculous grind for 40 opinion polls is only one of many problems. Averaged around 16 hours of re-activation, search for polls, remove power regulator, take off , return, rinse and repeat until comotose. Result :::::: 16 opinion polls ! ( roughly one per hour and thats without the loss to gameplay) The only time a circuit of 6 data points takes more than 4 minutes is if scavengers are on sight or, shock of shocks, an opinion poll is available for download (rarer than the proverbial rocking horse manure). If that is 'working as intended' then the patience of a saint needs adding to the system requirements for playing.
That is not gameplay, rather it is ridiculously boring, repeatitive and, without a doubt, just not worth the effort.

Oh, sorry , didn't realise this was a brain- storming thread. Well an appreciation that not everyone has unlimited time to play games and subjecting them to a ridiculous collection amount when RNG dicates your collection rate would appear, if other threads are to be read, to actually put players off even bothering. I do not consider that to be 'working as intended'.
Still I'm sure when FDev have finished actually making the game run without constant CTD they will realise this and amend the process, of course if no-one highlights it then they would never know. That, to me, is the most useful aspect of a forum.

So what IS your suggestion?
  • Disembark straight to concourse. Embark straight from concourse to ship. Shouldn't be hard at all. (Don't get RID of hangar, just make it a special thing instead of a chore.)
  • Better mission boards. Manual refresh, even, since you can't stack most things. And ground rewards pale in comparison to ship bounties anyway.
  • https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...reaking-down-the-rendering-of-a-frame.577408/ -this entire thread tossed at upper management, and the game rendering fixed and optimized.
  • Have someone who actually PLAYS the game set the engineer unlock costs.
  • Rewrite the engineer access requirements with CLEAR and SPECIFIC grammar.
