I concur with the positive sentiment!
Was out at a nav beacon this morning, bagging pirates on a mission for some Imperial faction, when I unwisely took on an Imperial Clipper alone. I took some damage, including to the canopy, but stayed in it. Then he got me again... and smashed the canopy entirely, leaving a gaping hole in front of me, with the oxygen timer counting down.
I diverted power to the engines, managed to escape the madness, locked onto a station and - BWAAAMF! - I was out of there. Had to navigate towards the station using only the console instruments, but it looked like I was going to make it... until I realised the station was on the far side of a planet, and my engines were auto-slowing as a precaution. Had to keep forcing them up, and as the planet passed below me and I gradually neared the station, it was now touch and go as to whether I'd make it.
With about 1:10 remaining I was finally within range - I came out of cruise, accelerated hard, got docking permission and raced for the entrance (no nice safe, wide approach this time). At the last moment I turned in, lowering the landing gear - which was a mistake, as it slowed me down too much, and I suddenly saw I only had about 12 seconds left. I kept turning towards the entrance, and with five seconds left desperately punched the throttle...

"Atmosphere restored."
One of my best gaming moments ever. And I was running away!
So yeah, this game is awesome sauce.
