I've searched & _not_ found any Min PC Specs change... Anyone hear/see any different? What abt for nx update?

Greetings, Commanders.

The "official" min specs don't seem to have changed.. (Or, if they have, they've not been updated..?)

As of the Jan Update, does anyone know if min specs requirement would "sensibly" need to be higher?
(I mean, we are 5 yrs on..)

FURTHER:

Given the upcoming PAID-FOR season expansion later this year, has there been any "official" mention of needing higher than base/original min specs?

Unless my search style is crap (and, tbh, I'm quite thorough), I've yet to find anything myself, so I'm asking in case anyone else... "regular readers" of the forum (I'm not in here much/enough) or readers of "patch notes" or Dev Diaries or anything along those lines... (!?)... might have a better & more useful clue re MIN SPECS FOR E:D 2020-2021 please?

Thank you all.

Nothing has been announced, but I expect the min required RAM to go from 6 > 8 Gb and the base GPU to go up a tad in line with FDs other games.

This seems reasonable to me.
Thanks for your reply.

My older system, I upgraded from an odd 6Gb RAM (4+2!) to its max 16, and the APU is above min spec on both CPU & GPU fronts, so I'm hoping I'll be fine for the paid expansion..
(Just need to clear some HD space)

However, my overall intention w this post is also to serve other Community Members running lesser systems, esp if running "potato" rigs..

So I hope any Specs increase / update will be made clearly, and well in advance of the update dropping, as much as poss, so ppl can try to update their systems in good time. :)

I've always ran a potato system with ED. My 'old' system was a 10 year old Core 2 Extreme Q6850 with 4Gb RAM and a GTX 460. My 'new' system is a Xeon E 1650 with 16 Gb RAM and a GT 1030 card (I also have a Quadro 2000 that is faster but more power hungry). ED can be forgiving on system RAM to a point, but < 2Gb VRAM for me often resulted in 'failed to lock buffer' issues.

I suspect the biggest niggle will be GPU VRAM for any new shaders or effects, and system RAM for smooth loading of assets. The VRAM will be 2 Gb minimum hopefully. But in consolation (if you forgive the pun) ED will still have to be able to run on base consoles like the PS4 and XB1, even if it is with lower detail.

Very fair point, re consoles. (Nice pun.) :p

I'd actually neglected to consider "lowest spec consoles"...

It depends if FD call time on them or not. If they don't, then its safe to assume the min spec won't shift dramatically to be as inclusive as possible. My guess is the base spec won't shift much but the top end eye candy will increase.
