Jagged Alliance: Flashback

Totally not related to Elite, but something I and others may be interested in:

Jagged Alliance: Flashback is a game seeking kickstarter funding (sound familiar?).

It is taking Jagged Alliance back to its roots. It's not a reboot, its a RESET.

The story will be a prologue to the first Jagged Alliance game and it will be quite in depth with multiple factions and no set narrative - your choices will impart on the way the story ends.

This game is (hopefully) going to be made by the same people who made Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic, Crysis and other titles like that so you know its going to be quality.

They are only asking for 350,000 USD, which is a pittance but they have the game engine already worked out, so they can do it on the cheap.

Anyway if you remember the game and want to help bring it back to life, click here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2079547763/jagged-alliance-flashback

If you haven't played before: Its a turn based strategy / RPG game where you control a mercenary force. Each mercenary has their own kit and personality, but you have that high level strategic control as well as down in the trenches turn based combat. Its awesome. I even spoke about Jagged Alliance on my blog: http://andherethewheel.co.nz/2013/04/24/how-computer-games-programmed-my-brain/

Anyway I know you want to go check it out, so click here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2079547763/jagged-alliance-flashback

Thanks, and heres hoping for some jontying over on this new kickstarter.

Cheers,

John

All the greats are coming back! With this, along with Elite: Dangerous, a new Planescape Torment amongst others, the humble 'ole PC is in for a renaissance over the next year or two.

JA Movie

I just put together a 'teaser' trailer for this Jagged Alliance kickstarter.

You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCVFQFCqd0w

Those that followed my elite novel crowd funding drive would quickly see that the trailer is a complete rip off of my 'And Here The Wheel' teaser trailer.

So . . don't tell the JA guys that :) Still hopefully it inspires a few people.

Cheers

John

Same here, if there were two games that wow-ed my youth, those were Elite and JA. No other games settled so well in my heart.

Elite was "lucky", it got David to give it a new life. JA:F had a much more harder path to go, at least until recently when Ian Currie, Chris Camfield and Andrew Emmons came out and backed the Kickstarter with all their heart.

All I can say is that I hope that next year I get to share with my son two epic games that made me dream so nice back in the days... What better feeling for a gamer than that, eh?

PS: JA:F got a massive influx of fans yesterday after Obsidian's "Project Eternity" gave it a bump in their project updates. Could we pitch in and buy David a new sweater as a bribe to do the same? :)))

Are you Shanga from the bears pit?
just registered there the other day, not posted anything yet though
good site

Yep. Been spamming them bears with the news about Elite KS the second I heard of it. Never imagined we'd get a JA one too, but here we are...

I'm just waiting to see which classic will come back next
I've backed a dozen games now and nearly all are either a return of an old classic or a clone of one

and there's no big AAA publisher games coming out soon that I'm particularly excited about

Thanks for all the efforts Shanga. You have been a star on the kickstarter.

Just bumping this thread to let everyone know what is going on.

We need $80,000 and we have 59 hours to get it.

We have been getting good surges when the right people mention it. Please come over, check it out and pledge a spare bob or two to help us get across the line.

I also have put together a second video for JA:F - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wowRIwzKhEA if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

John

Seem to have missed that game - JA - never heard of it until today. The games that wow'd me as a kid were Elite and Unreal Tournament (which, incidentally, is the source of my troubles today - thanks RSI )

I wish them well ... £225,000 ( AUS $350,000 ) is not a lot of money.
