Newcomer / Intro Jail Time

I did it. I didn't listen when they wanted to scan me on a planet site. They shot me unconscious, put me in jail and no that I am out I do still have to pay my fine. Am I missing something? Am I not already punished with jail time and a failed mission?

Do I really have to go back to that system or do an interstellar services and pay my fine?

And o yeah .. This was a mission with threat level 0, but not for me I guess. I turned it around in a life threatening situation. So much for my first steps in Oddysee and getting my mission from "Crook" station in the Eskimori system. I should have known better.

---

It gets better. I went to an interstellar services to find out I couldn't pay of my fine.It was clearly visible in my transaction panel, So ok .. I went back to the system where I made my violation. I tried to pay my fine, but it did not show up. I checked my transaction panel again and there the fine was gone.

I guess it is part of the buggy experience. I am sure Frontier Dev is working on a lot of issues.

Yes - opinion seems to be split as to whether fine payment in Odyssey is simply not understood or just bugged. I'm not aware (but also frankly didn't look) about any dev/CM communication on how it should work.

There's also a third option - if the faction in question isn't present in too many systems: ignore them. Just go and find another system where they're not present.

Of course, if you're really mad about them, you can always try to push them out of any systems they are not native in...

Threat level zero, until you refuse a valid direction by a security officer, then you are a criminal. So just stop, stand there and wait until they say you are free to go. I did two walking missions today, scanned 3 times, picked up both items, walks back to the ship and finished the missions. They are indeed threat level zero.

I learned not to use jetpack when I really need to not get wanted. It happened to me several times that the guard yelled at me to stop as I was flying over them from one rooftop to another, in which case there's nothing you can do.

Haven't been doing any on-foot missions (well, failed one and overtimed on a few more) yet, but what about the Han Solo solution?
You mean killing them first? That doesn't really work outdoors because there's always somebody else nearby.
Plus I would need guns that would dispatch them quickly and quietly even if there wasn't. And that, I don't have. I don't do shooty on-foot stuff so I haven't put any time into engineering that side of the equipment. Plus whatever happens during missions, I always seem to be in the wrong type of suit. I guess some branch of Murphy's law specific to Elite. :D

Oh yes it does work outdoors.

Keep away from the guards until they are isolated and then walk up to them. Get in their face.

Whether they scan you are not, pull out your trusty audio masked Tormentor or P-15 and let them have it. One shot usually does it as the guards are not shielded.

Steve

P.S. Remember to walk casually away after the deed whistling a jaunty tune!

More like a line or two of code that tailors the mission to maximise the disadvantage provided by your suit and load out, no need to put down to Murphy what can be explained by having a sufficiently nasty coding team.

The other day I was driving the Scarab. Very careful moved back an forth and then I heard "I'm hit, I'm hit" .. Then hell broke loose. Be careful where you drive. Don't hit no one unless you mean to. 🤣
😅😂

I think it's the same coder who ensured that when I go to HazRES to have some fun in my iEagle, I only see wanted Anacondas and Pythons and when I am in an FdL armed to teeth I get Vipers and Sideys. 😐

I get that. I sit here yelling at it ... "Please give me more than mosquitos to swat!"
I do wonder if it is time related.
