General / Off-Topic James Cameron give three sequels to "Avatar" by 2018

The three suites will be filmed simultaneously and begins shooting in 2014, Fox said in a statement. They come out respectively in December 2016, 2017 and 2018. To complete the project, James Cameron has also decided to surround himself with four writers-as he had written only "Titanic" and "Avatar." So join the Josh Friedman ("War of the Worlds"), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver ("Planet of the Apes"), and Shane Salerno ("Armageddon", "Savages").

Well, if they could get a decent sci-fi story together instead of just some 3D eye candy, I'm all for it. The first part did not really impress me on the story front, however.

Wasn't it based on Pocahontas?

love the story its simple journey of a man who falls in love with a woman from the locals, then fights for what he believes in and wins the day. Avatar is currently one of my favourite films. I think I watch it more for its visuals than its story though, its a beautiful film to switch your brains off and just watch.

Avatar was cool. And I'm sort of looking forward to the sequels. But what I really wish is that he would just hurry up and get on with Battle Angel. I'd take that over any Avatar sequels.

This makes me almost as mad as Disney making Star Wars...

I think Disney will do a better job than Lucas film ... the last 3 films were tripe ..If I hear a child (especially Darth Vader) shout "WOO! HOO!" or even Darth Vader acting all like Frankenstein's monster shouting "Nooooooooooooooooo !" ... I think i will be sick in my mouth a little ... just enough to make me think those Kebabs were a bad idea .. Give Disney a chance .. their plan seems solid ... Just 'cos it's Disney doesn't make it automatically bad.

Hmmm...

I'm trying to think of a single live-action Disney movie that I like and can't, so for me, it is a scary proposition to see them produce Star Wars.

Sadly, I might never forgive Mr Lucas for the travesty of a CGI montage that was Episodes I, II and III.

That being said, if the visual work of Avatar and the direction of Cameron were applied to the next Star Wars, I might have seen a glimmer of hope.

I thought it was very much "Dances with Wolves"...

I have heard it referred to before as "Dances With Smurfs".

Personally, I found it to be the perfect 3D tech demo. None of that stupid "wavy wavy in your facey facey" nonsense, just scenes designed to have their depth add to telling a story. A story that lacked innovation and creativity, such that I was never less than 30 minutes ahead of where the plot was going. A 1D plot to go with a 3D film.

I still think it was a very good film, but purely on the immersive use of the 3D.

I loved Avatar but i fear the sequels will fail. unless the storyline can captivate my heart again ;)
