Jameson Memorial - a bit of a let down

I finally made Elite last night (yay for me, and yes I did do a happy dance around the desk lol) and was naturally granted access to Founder's World and all the goodies associated with it. Since I have heard a lot about the wonderful place where all things are available to the restricted few, curiosity got the better of me so I jumped in the DBX and went for a looksee.

And I can safely say I was kind of disappointed. Here is the home of the Pilot's Federation, that one bastion where you have to prove your worth to be allowed to visit. It was just another station, nothing stood out, no pretties, no banners, heck I have seen a lot more stations that are more pleasing to the eye. I'm not sure what I was expected, but something more than just a run of the mill station. You would think that such an important facility would be at least a little unique, something you wouldn't get to see at any other system.

Kind of poor form FD, you could have spent a little effort and made it something worthy of a selfie at least!

Congrats on the Elite status bro! I get what you mean, it is a little underwhelming, but look at all the shinies in the outfitting and shipyard, all in one place, no searching around and all at 10% discount :D

Good news is you now have access to everything in one place. Also there a is a discount on ships and modules, some big savings to be had.
That is what Jameson Memorial offers.

Well done on your new found elite status m00ka. I understand how you feel there as I too was expecting, more pizzazz? Or at least a different kind of station.
But on the bright side, at least you have permanent access to all modules and ships now !

Thanks, got to love these new Fetch missions lol

True about all the goodies inside, but isn't there another station or two that offer everything as well, just maybe without the discount? And to be honest, by the time you do finally reach Elite in another of the three trades, you normally have enough credits that a discount isn't really a big deal. Got to admit, whilst there I did pick up a Xeno scanner for the DBX, you never know I might finally see a Thargoid (haven't seen on yet !)

I always feel like people promoting the 10% discount are really stretching. By the time a commander usually hits an Elite rank they've likely been using LYR areas of space to outfit, as well as sites like eddb or roguey in order to filter searches for module and LYR status. The extra 5% discount makes a hell of a difference when especially affording the big ships. And I personally don't know anyone in-game who has access to Alioth and hasn't used its 20% ASPX discount even when already owning an ASPX, just strip the engineered modules out, sell the hull and rebuy at Alioth to save even more money on potential rebuys. Anything to make this game less tedious in farming credits is usually worth it. At least that's how I feel.

That said congrats on the Elite rank OP. In addition to the lame Jameson Memorial, getting your first Elite rank I believe also applies a passive 2.5% discount everywhere to all ships and modules, and that DOES stack with LYR 15% discount for a nice 17.5% discount in his areas of space.

Sadly the 2.5% Elite discount doesn't mean 17.5% at LYR docks - it equates to 17.125% (i.e. 100% - (100% - 15%) x (100% - 2.5%); 100% - (85% x 97.5%)).

I'm not sure what I was expected

doh, i would have volunteered to deploy a nice biowaste carpet/corridor for your triumphant arrival, but it's too late now ...

anyway, enjoy its outfitting and shipyard, no other station beats that offer. you just got exonerated from some smart(tm) "interesting game mechanic", the implications will make sense after a while, and you will not regret it. welcome to the club!

What, only 17.125% and not 17.5% - what a damn rip-off. No way am I going to bother going there now ….. lol

And to all, thank you for the congratulations, very much appreciated

All the things in the one place guaranteed & when you've got so much cash you don't care about the little bit extra discount from the Chinaman what's not to love about Jameson ?

Too many people are Elite nowadays. We've built a new secret station for triple Elite CMDRs.

Oops, I've said too much.

You could have had this way easier by going to one of the power capitals and look for something extraordinary. Did that on my first day in ED. Must have taken like 25 or 30 jumps in the Sidey.

As you say, the discount isn't the best, and you don't need it as much once Elite - the main advantage, which you haven't appreciated yet, is the availability of everything. Next week :)eek:) when 3.2 comes out you can head to Jamesons, buy and kit out a Krait Phantom in a single stop - such a time saver.

(And the only other place which stocks everything is I Sola in Brestla, and they have a 20% surcharge, so there's that ;) )

I agree it is handy to have access to Jameson, if I ever decide to buy another ship I will definitely go there for it. But in all honesty, the reason for the post wasn't about the discount or the availability of everything, it was my expectations on what I thought the station would look like - and I wasn't expecting it to look like any other bog standard, run of the mill station. I really thought FD would have put a bit of effort into making such a station that is so steeped in Lore more unique.

Guess I was wrong huh lol

Peeps say that about all the permit locked systems - "huh, is that it"? I guess they could have done that, and maybe at some point they will do that, not sure it would encourage that many more to buy the game "now with added unique starport you can only unlock by playing for quite a long time".

Congratulations CMDR.

And I agree. The station should look more like this (maybe a bit more classy looking colors, dark blue and gold?):

At least there should be banners over the entrance that say 'Home of the Elite' or something like it.

Thanks and yeah, even a damn banner or sign would have been an improvement. Especially since I dropped into the nearby tourist beacon (I think it was called Pilot's Federation Secret) that alluded to the fact that the entire thing is not well known outside of the Pilot's Federation, kind of like our little secret, don't tell anyone (which is kind of strange cos there were NPCs flying around and some say they aren't members of the PF - huh huh conspiracy theory time lol)

Yeah, Founder's World, like superpower capitals like Sol, Achenar or Alioth, as well as powerplay capitals, have absolutely nothing special about them that might indicate these are special places.
