PvP Jameson Memorial is Murder Magnet?

I got my permit to Jameson last week and started transferring my fleet there as my new base. However, its becoming more frequent that I get pulled out of SC on my way to Jameson by... what do you call them? Not pirates because there's no parlay; its simply an effort to kill me. Lucky for me my ships are engineered shield tanks and i'm able to avoid the rebuy screen. But I am rethinking my decision about playing in open or using Jameson. I like Jameson because of the other high level players to join wing missions and whatnot.

Do players normally consent to PvP or is this how's its done in ED?

Better they do it there than anywhere else really, if there is a demographic of players best equipped to deal with this kind of play it's the more experienced ones who have founders access.

If you don't like it just switch to solo to easily avoid them, or take the opportunity to practice your skills against them ;)

The general consensus is, that by logging in to open, you have consented to PvP encounters. You just have to accept that a desirable place to reside is going to attract those looking for the unwary. As you can see, at least one group, intent on making you their content, has taken up steady residence there. You have to decide, when you log on, if you would enjoy that kind of play, or not. There is no reason to make a permanent decision, the game doesn't require that. Just decide as you enter the game, what you are interested, or not interested in for that session, and choose the environment best suited.

Good luck, Commander. Fly crazy. o7

That's a good way to put it. I'll stay at Jameson and fly solo when the situation calls for it. These "gankers?" have caused me to apply some special effects to my guns i might otherwise have not considered.

Hold up... wait a sec...

So, you're winning (and learning new tricks from the sounds of it), but you want to give up anyways?

How very odd.

Maybe, having to run away all of the time, doesn't feel much like winning.

^this. I'm getting away without seeing the rebuy screen. Trying to learn from each encounter so not a total waste of time. So yes i see the contradiction as well.

Hey, like Morghan said, some days you just want to get from point A to point B, or just have quiet space adventures without having to deal with nonsense. On those days, just drop into Solo.

The game mode is made available to you for a reason.

Bingo.

I dont get why everybody and their mother wants to make Jameson their home. Other then the discount and having all ships and parts there. There is nothing really interesting there. I only go there when I buy a new ship or need really expensive parts. I like quiet systems with lots of very nicely paid missions.

You nailed it. I used it a couple of times when I got access but prefer to find the modules. It's a nice reward but more of a social hub than anything else. That said my home system isn't all that far away, if I want a thing & can't be bothered to find it it's within easy reach.

Is there another system more central to the engineers which also has an engineer?

I have a ship that jumps 65ly a pop. No engineer is to far away. From any location. Then just ship what I want to engineer there.

I just prefer systems where I dont have to jocky for a landing pad while swashbuckling MurderHobos on my way in. Honestly I'm more interested in making home in systems that have Mat Traders and Interstellar Factors in close proximity.

My favorite line of the day. Thank you for that[yesnod]

Sometimes I prefer that too...other times I don't! But I am windswept & interesting!

I unfriended this guy yesterday and the inderdictions stopped. I suspect he was acting as a spotter for the MurderHobos.
