Janitors

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but it seems like janitors only go to certain parts of the park. For example if this is trash or vomit on a ride exit most of the time they will only clean it up if it is in a populated areas of the park and that area in the back of the park. Or the janitors will all go to one place for one trash item when really only one janitor should be going there (see picture below). Now what I suggesting is that we have the option to tell janitors where to go instead of them deciding where they can go (I know this might be part of staff management).

The "staffbrain" might not be as active as it should be, and the clumsy walk of the janitor explains it all...

I also noticed Janitors roam in groups towards the same spots, it might be the alpha or just a coincidence..
I wouldnt want to direct a Janitor, but it would be nice to allocate them to certain area's.

If they do move to the same spot, then there should be some sort of ruling on the "dirt" they are collecting.

I have found, in a nearly filled park (full plot), that the Janitors do there jobs pretty well, with no help.
You can pick up a Janitor, and place him somewhere else.

What I believe happens, in a smaller park, that creates the Janitor parades, is that a new piece of trash or vomit calls ALL nearby Janitors who are not currently busy, to that item. It tends to group them. Then the next event needs attention, and they all move towards it.

In a large park, I have seen the grouping much less, and the Janitors are more dispersed, with only occasional parades. This is because there are many more cleaning events necessary, pulling them away from each other.

I have been super impressed with their AI, and have felt no need to intervene and create work area (footprints) for them.

I didn't see it for a while either! [up]

Sometimes if I see a extra dirty area in the park, I will hire a new Janitor or two, and set there pay to zero. They'll clean up the mess, and quit soon enough. LOL
But Like I said, in general, when you have a good balance of Janitors, they do their job pretty well.

I was trying to make a video of peeps puking after rides at various rides across my park, and I thought it was pretty funny, because a majority of the time, while recording, shortly after the vomit appeared, there was a Janitor coming to clean it up! So, I've been impressed overall by their AI.

I have to say first that I'm absolutely loving what I'm seeing in the game so far. I only got to play the ALPHA 3 for the party in the park weekend and can't wait until Beta release...[big grin][up]

With that said, a thought I had about the janitors in the park looking like they are at retirement age. As cute as it may be, I would hope at that age they would either be retired or at the end of a long career, not picking up trash and sweeping up puke on the paths. Theme parks are typically ran by young people who are still in high school or college and haven't found a career yet unless they are going toward management in the park or are entertainers. Anyway, I don't really care so much about their age, it was just something I've noticed and thought was kind of weird.

My main thought on the janitors was since they don't actually empty the trash cans, they only shove the trash down with their broom. This may be for comedic purposes or something, I don't know, but I thought it would be seemingly better looking and more realistic if they pushed a trash cart around and you could see them put the full trash bag in their cart and put a new bag in the trash can since this is actually what you might see at a real life park. It doesn't seem like it would take much for them to do this for the game and of course you would never really see them empty their trash carts so there wouldn't be a lot of extra computer recourses used either.

However it's just a thought and if it doesn't ever get done or even considered, I'm still going to enjoy the Best Coaster Sim Game in the World when they Beta is released in a few more days.....Yeah![heart][up][big grin]
