Jaques clarification. When is it jumping to Beagle point? Can it take passengers?

I'm a little unclear on Jaques journey plans. Is he making one big jump? Lots of small ones? When? And if a CMDR is onboard, will they get taken to Beagle Point?

In the past, when Jaques moved, if you were docked there you would move with it. So yes, in theory, if and when Jaques jumps to Beagle Point, ships docked at Jaques would get transported there too. Now this seems to be deeply problematic. What happens if you end up at Beagle in a ship that isn't really capable of making the journey back home (or what if the player themself isn't really prepared for the scale of that journey?). The thing is, I don't think you'd be able to suicide back home because that would just take you to your last station ... which would be Jaques, still at Beagle point.

Exactly... Hence me wanting some clarification... It's clearly a fairly big game event (getting transported, or not transported, to Beagle Point), yet there's no clarity on it!?

free sidy rebuy will do the trick and take you back to starter system, just make sure you can afford to lose the ship you take with you

So you're assuming Jaques will take CMDRs to Beagle Point? Or you know this for a fact?

And if so, when?

Is that when the jump is taking place?

No one knows, currently.

I did pose a similar question in the CG topic, as if he jumped once the CG ends, there'd be no way to get your rewards unless you went all the way to Beagle Point for it. It would be much better if the jump happened a few weeks after the CG ended to save a lot of upset CMDRs.

All seems a bit vague doesn't it!

CGs automatically cash you out after (I think) 6 weeks without you needing to visit the station.

The only issue I can see with it is if someone (perhaps someone who doesn't even do CGs and so wasn't aware of Jaques' plans) ends up docking there the day before 2.1 is released. They would get one hell of a shock when they undocked the day after, especially if they happened to be in something like a combat spec FDL.

I would have thought the station should jump a few thousand lightyears at a time and take months to reach Beagle. If it just magically appears there when 2.1 hits that would be a bit of a let down.

Although very useful for me as I've almost arrived there and my paintwork is getting a bit scratched.

On the other hand, it's a great opportunity for CMDRs to experience the far reaches without having to fly 10+klys in both directions

Is it going to straight up jump to Beagle Point or take a couple of weeks to get there, jumping to different systems along the way?

Lorewise, having the technology to simply jump a station across the galaxy defeats the purpose of spaceships and exploration.

Well it's a bit of a blow to players who have flown there, if the station takes 10,000 + players to beagle in a few seconds, then brings them back a month later with them lording up the place about distance traveled and getting perks from engineers. Due to how far they traveled.

If Commanders get a free trip to Beagle then stats should represent that - otherwise I think commanders will feel duped after investing many months hard work getting to beagle.

IMHO

Would it actually update their distance travelled stat though? If they are docked when it jumps, they haven't travelled any distance at all, they're still parked in the same hangar. I guess it would update their 'furthest distance from start' stat but I'd have thought that would be all?

The issue is, a huge gameplay element, do you arrive tomorrow morning at the furthest point from Sol, or not... And we have no idea what the answer is... Which seems wrong to me!
