Jaques station quandary

As I am getting closer and closer to Beagle Point and the supposed pending appearance of the station there, it got me thinking.....should I actually dock? Doing so creates a number of difficult possibilities. If I die during the return trip, I would re-spawn back in BP? What if I count on boosts to get in and out of BP and after I boost out I just head home not replenishing materials, then die?....as I peel back the layers of possible consequences for docking at the station while it is BP...I can't help but think...I may not want to.

I finally reached Beagle Point this weekend. I'm now wondering whether to stay until the station makes an appearance. I've already been here for a few hours getting enough jump material (and then some) to start the journey back. I think I might just give it a week and see what happens, head out next weekend if he's still not here.

I'm definitely docking if he does make an appearance. It did feel a bit like cheating at first, like making it to the South Pole of Earth only to find a motel and garage there, but then I thought to myself, how many ships are ever going to get this opportunity? This is just as historic and it's not as if I'm the first person ever to reach here. Sure, it's still a small group to make it here overall, but I'm way behind the last great expedition now, so this is my chance to be part of something, if not what I originally intended.

There there's the matter of how psychotic, and deadly, pirates are in the bubble at the moment. I'm in no hurry to return, so why not hang around for a while?

And what if you don't dock, die on the way back, and lose all the data? See how this line of thinking isn't exactly productive? Using it you can find a reason against every course of action - you're over thinking it... In your shoes I'd dock, repair, sell, then not die on the way home :)

Why would you think that you would re-spawn back in BP?

What if some griefer last docked at Jaques Station before it jumped. They then waited for the jump to BP to be completed, then self destruct & re-spawn at the last station, which was Jaques Station, which is now at BP!......instant jump to BP???.....I doubt that FD would let such scenarios happen....would they?

Jaques station is not a respawn point for those who were docked there before it jumped.

I've heard accounts of pilots already logging in and having their respawn points moved. It'll be fine. What would be interesting is if it's a respawn point after it comes in.

I'll definitely be docking. I think there's a rather slim chance of dying on the return trip if you made it with >50% hull.

I'm waiting around (it's very boring) for the metal man to show. I'll certainly dock when he does unless the station is surrounded by a fleet of angry octagons, it's too interesting an opportunity to miss.

I've yet to get to BP, but once I have and touched down at the WP I plan to dock at Jaques.

Considering selling the data I have so far once I'm there, if it's possible.

Do we know when he's due and how long he's in the area for?

Now, I presume it's been tried and tested. I know people say that you can't be docked in Jaques when he jumps, but where do you re-appear in the event of you being docked and he does jump?

Are you just dropped in space where he was?

Would like confirmation from anyone who has actually tried it. Docked and logged out of game and not played that Commander until long after he's jumped.

Some good points....I am probably a few days from reaching BP. Once I reach it I will stick around for a while and most likely dock after all. I lost a SRV yesterday and now just on my backup so probably no SRV shenanigans like I hoped but good to hear I can find jump materials easy enough out there.

My money is on Jaques Station not showing up at Beagle Point. Let me explain: It's a far better story if he doesn't show up with many, many story-arc possibilities than if he did actually show up at Beagle Point, just to serve beverages.

For instance consider the impending Thargoid invasion: Jaques Station is found shot to pieces after multiple SAR CG's with traces of Thargoid weapons. Would be an epic prologue to the invasion.

Jaques Station does not arrive to Beagle Point.

As long as we know either way by next weekend that would be great. I'd like to start back soon and it's going to take a few months, plenty of time to get the bugs and kinks ironed out of Engineers. Knowing my luck, I'll get back just as the invasion starts!

And then there is those who wanted to dock at Jaques, sell their stuff and then sidewinder themselves back to the bubble.
i do hope he'll be there or i'd have to kill myself and all my data from dwe to get back in time and do the dangerous games.

Edit: That would suck big time and i would hate FD quite a bit for it :)

That was my plan all along. Trade in my Asp for a basic Sidewinder, blow it up, teleport home.

took some time to "un-burn" myself after the expedition... i was hoping to dock at jaques to at least secure some income for the way back.
now i see Jaques didnt make it to Beagle, any news on that? did it get lost on the way? will there be a mission to find it?
Count with me in any way, if you need more numbers, i need to get in elite shape again :p

He's due this Thursday if he does in fact make a successful trip.
I'm waiting around and will definitely be docking. I want my patch and new paint job I've been dieing to put on :p
If he does get there sucessfully I'd love to try and get us all in one instance to dock and fill all the bays :p

I have decided that if Jacques arrives at BP and he (it) brings a Repair Shop with him (it) then I am going to make use of it. This is in keeping with any repair facilities that can be found and made use of anywhere in the Galaxy.

I'm not going to sell any of my data, though. My in-game "lore" tells me that Jacques Station is incapable of reliably sending data to UC and, in addition, it won't give me a fair price for it anyway.

So, all in all, I'll have a repair job, yes please; data sales, no.

Don't care (in a nice, caring way) what others do; this is my game-plan.
