Jaw-dropping new Eve: Valkyrie gameplay trailer

Having played an early Eve: Valkyrie demo on Occulus I can tell you this is going to be mind-blowing!

Like David said in his BAFTA acceptance speach, it's a new era for computer gaming folks.

Looks fun, always saw this as a game for a quick fragfest, no big story, etc, and looks like it'll deliver just that - which is no bad thing.

I've never played in the Eve universe before but looks like the VR headset wars are about to kick off properly - that and it looks like an out and out console game to me. Especially with weapon + level-ups, etc I think they are on to a license to print money here - let's hope they pull it properly out of the bag and deliver on this one !

As a long time EvE player, I'm pretty excited to play this. Looking pretty good so far. EvE has pushed a lot of things no other MMO company has dared to go down, except maybe Dark Fall. It's really a testament that they have been going 10+ years strong in a very niche genre.

It does shaping up very well. I'm curious to see how far they can push Valkyrie.

Also, new fanfest trailer is out and... it's... just watch it:

! Sod the game, I want to see a feature length film of that :)

There has been talks about EVE movie (most likely CGI) since... like, forever. CCP has a true gem in their hands, lore and scripting-wise, and it's really pity that they aren't using it in its full potential.

Oculus Rift pre-order comes with a copy of Eve: Valkyrie

Another pre-alpha trailer:

The music is a lot better than CQC's music imo. I also like the grittiness and more stuff is going on.

Hmmm if it's just shoot ships in space with other way to play I'm unlikely to be swayed by this. CQC does all that in a sort of passable way.

I know someone who's played it, he says it's somewhat more fun than CQC because it was designed for VR from the ground up (head targetting, or example) and as an arena game from the start too.

The fact it will be bundled means it doesn't matter either way - everyone with a CV1 will have it and can judge themselves. :)

Eve online has an advantage here over other games other then just the fact that it is well established, this kind of gameplay can actually communicate with the 'actual' eve online fairly easy because the main game is point and click based and not twitch based. So yeah, looks to be interesting potential, wonder what they are going to do about dust though, really could stand to be brought into next gen + pc.

I think it's very fair to compare it with CGC (i.e. it's certainly not ED, but as a mini-game, it looks terrific, possibly better than CQC).

I've never actually been tempted to even try a CQC session (far too busy being immersed in the world of ED) but that said, I was lucky enough to try out Valkyrie on the Oculus a year or so back and it was stunning. The head targetting in particular (the ability to look over your shoulder at a ship, target and fire a missile, while still flying forwards in pursuit of a different ship) was genius.

Here's me in the thick of battle ...

Q) why the long face?
A) because the Oculus isn't out yet

Is Valkyrie a precursor to a much more expanded version of the whole VR thing for CCP I wonder. I am unlikely to buy VR specifically for Valkyrie (nice to get with OR but not a deal maker for me).

However a much more expanded engaging EVE universe game that ties in with a lot of EVEs gameplay I would be all over that like a tramp on cheesy chips and both ED and SC could go to the dogs as far as Im concerned.
