Jet cone boost - how do I jump the full distance?

Ok, so maybe I'm being a bit dumb here (stop grinning at the back!) but I don't seem to be able to jump beyond the normal range with a jet-cone boost.

I'm flying a Python with a jump range of about 28ly - I boosted my FSD in Kamuy and went to the Galaxy map, which said that I had a jump range of 41.58.

"Great", I thought, "I can do a single jump to Rugai, coz that's only 38.77ly away!"

So, I plot the route to Rugai but, no matter which star classes I take out, no matter how many times I click "Use Jet-cone Boost", in fact, no matter how many other systems I choose between 29 and 41 ly from Kamuy, the route planner always picks a route that doesn't use the full extent of the 41.58ly.

What am I doing wrong? Or is it a bug??

Thanks in advance!

The route plotter always assumes that you have a full tank of fuel (there are good reasons for this) so if you currently have less than a full tank then it cannot plot the full distance in a single jump. Instead, simply select the destination system using the first icon. Once selected, exit galmap and you should be able to do the jump.

As above, you need to maually select the route to jump to the next NS star or system.....Iv yet to click the button on the galmap for fsd boost.

Thanks for the comments, however:

a) I did have a full tank of fuel; and
b) I did select Rugai (and all other systems I tested within the 41.58ly range) manually.

Every system I selected within the 28 -> 41.58 ly range (even those at ~30 ly) routed me via an intermediate system - for Rugai it was via Isleta.

Are you sure? Manually selecting a system does not plot a route:

Don't click the 'plot course' button in the galmap, simple select the system with the 'select' button [pointy triangle], then exit galmap and engage hyperdrive.

Synthesis != Jet Cone boost

Synthesis : no Route Plotting, only a single manually selected jump permitted after FSD Boost is applied. AFAIK nothing changed about that in V3.0 and it's not recognized by the Route Plotter, hence any Route plotting will fail.

Cone Boost : with Cone Boost selected, a normal Part of Route Plotting

Rechecked and it's a White Dwarf (+50% Cone Boost) System... So technically it should indeed work, for as long as Cone Boost is selected in Route Plotting (?)

If in doubt, recheck
- there's no "Apply Filter to Route" restriction that blocks anything (shouldn't if the System is within Boosted Range thou)
- the Cargo Slider simulating a lower Jumprange isn't used
- toggle Cone Boost OFF/ON

PS.
Although it "should" work, I've observed some oddball behavior when Cone-Boost plotting directly towards i.e. a Station inside a System (via SysMap) instead of just the System (GalMap).

I'm still confused having gone through this thread twice. Have you flown through a neutron star tail and boosted your FSD? In which case your jump range should be about 110 + lyrs.

If a white dwarf, about 56 lyrs (I think).

Or are you using jumponium with materials injected into the FSD for a jump? In which case I don't think the jet cone boost should apply here?

Don't forget that even though you have a +50% boost to range, you can't use more fuel than your FSD is rated. If you are trying to make a boosted jump that will take 4.5t of fuel, and your FSD can only use 4t, it won't let you jump. Best way to see exactly how far you can jump while boosted is to hit 4, go to the last tab, and on the left side it will tell you your current single jump range.

Ok, weirdly enough what finally worked was using the "FSD Boost" option rather than the "Use Jet-cone Boost" under "Fastest Routes". I found this spectacularly counter-intuitive considering I wasn't using jumponium...

Thank you all for your comments, though - for the sake of completeness I've responded to them below!

This makes sense now - I didn't know what was meant by "manually selecting" so you showed me one of the things I was doing wrong. Much appreciated and I'll try this in the future.

This is the problem I was having - it was a Cone Boost jump with all the settings as you've stated here but the route planner wouldn't plot correctly!

My base jump range is 27.5 ly - I flew through a white dwarf star tail, which extended my jump range to 41.58 ly (i.e. a 50% increase) but I couldn't apply the jet cone boost toggle button to make a single jump of 38.77 ly when using the route planner.

Rugai was within my max fuel jump range, so this wasn't the problem. Thanks for the info about checking the current single jump range, though - that's something else I've learnt!
