Jettison fuel.

I got a modded Adder, but as we know all small ships suffer from any additional weight.

Having a full tank of gass, cost me almost 2 whole light years.

If I know I can fuel scoop either side of a precariously long jump, and to avoid flying until I emptied my tank.
It would be handy to actually be able to jettison fuel into space, lightening the load, to make those hard to reach jumps that my info panel claims I could make (theoretically), without having to resort to FSD injections.

In th new update you be able to use FSD and some types of system to jump farther. It also not hard to waste fuel.

What would of been a good idea is people using the search feature before posting.

fuel dump

Ways to adjust your fuel.

1 jump to a different star and back to waste fuel.

2 FSD Boost. Horizon 2.0

3 Using Plasma slugs or cargo to adjust ship weight

4 Studying the Galaxy map for the best route. A skill I use.

5 The idea of a smaller fuel tank.

6 Making the ship as light as possible

7 Fly until you waste a ton of fuel.

New update when 2.2 release

8 Look for Neutron star FSD boost

9 White Dwarfs FSD Boost.

All it take really is Common Sense when you are going point A to B.

Exactly that, I couldn't make a normal jump, I found myself between stars close but inside my max jump range,
I found myself FSD boosting between these stars to make the jump my ship theoretically could make.
I considered it waste of a hard earned (pre 2.1 Materials x3 buff).

I'm also in the wrong ship for the job, and a tonne of other little decisions that led me to where I am. (in an area where stars field has thinned out).
But sometimes, it's the odd situations that make for the most memorable.
I could turn back and make my life easy, but it'd be fun to see how far I could push my explorartion daring.

Well You have two tanks. One tank show your Tonnage of fuel. Above that is a small line that most don't notice that a reservoir that has a ton of fuel. You can fly at any direction in super cruse and burn fuel. There also ton per hour that can also help.

Thing with Exploration there is no Wrong ship. There some ships are better suited then others.. So it what ever float your boat is what matters. Like I am in a Anaconda. I could not outfit it right for exploration so I have 16.56ly jump range. With a cargo of 120+ Limpets, Mining laser and such. When I done mining at asteroid belts I will have low 20.00Ly But if I manage my weight right I will have 20.56ly jump range. I am heading to Sagittarius A then home. But it a LONG way with a short jump range. Now I debating on saving my Limpets until 2.2 release date.

Note you can go into Galaxy map. Then Map scroll down to Star class and you can set your star class type as O, B, A, F, G, K and M so you know the one you fuel type. So this could make it easier for you.

I'd like to be able to dump fuel too. In addition, the fuel tank itself should be able to be ruptured in combat.

Just because something already has an existing way to be accomplished doesn't mean there couldn't be a better way.

Why have all these weapons in the game, right? I mean, the ships already come with two C1 pulse lasers. You can already drop both shields AND hull with those! What a stupid suggestion to have different weapons!

This could be a thing soon, when different fuel grades are implemented (files are already in the 2.1 build for varying fuel quality). IIRC it was discussed as part of the fuel mechanics in one of or maybe the final DDF thread before release of 1.0.

reason being, if you buy highest grade fuel but then have to skim a star and get a lower grade, how can you clear out the tanks for all high grade again without any ability to flush them.

Anyway, +1 to the OP.

This is my build in question:
https://coriolis.io/outfit/adder/0p5tzF5l3d5sdf3---02-2t0i3r2i2f.Iw1+kA==.Aw1+kA==

Grade 5 FSD mod, decent roll, (but not maxed)
i'm on 36ly on an empty tank,
and 33-ish on a full.

Dirty thrusters grade 3, boost speed is about 600. (I was doing combat, and scooping cargo, started to decrease thruster and fsd performance dramatically).
So emptying weight mid-flight, without leaving the computer for 40 minutes to burn fuel would be nice. :)

My jump in question was 34 from one star to another, and on a full tank, I had to use my synthesis injection to make the jump,
and I got a couple more on the way back.
Working backwards I know I can fuel scoop and I can mess around with additional jumps, but moving forwards it would be nice to have that flexibility. Knowing I could empty, then jump to, check the star type and jump back to fuel up if needs be.

But yeah, suggestion has been left, people want to priase it, thanks.
People want to rain on it, and tell me I'm playing it wrongly, or try to be helpful to remind me of the alternatives that I'm already bitterly aware of - Thanks, it's been noted down :D

This please!

Some times I run with extra fuel tanks so I don't have to fuel scoop on the way and not have to worry about running out of fuel while investigating a lot of non-scoopable stars.
My asp for example can get up to 400LY with optimal jumping with its additional class five fuel tank.

But sometimes I need to dump all of it to get a longer distance jump.

The suggestion of just using it up by jumping; 350LY is a long way to go just to use up fuel.

Since there's no FSD performance difference between station fuel and star fuel; i recommend this reason be scrapped - there are no grades of fuel; only grades of injectors (which are single use).

Please give us Fuel Jettison :)

Agreed, fuel jettisoning should be added.

(Furthermore I don't understand the opposition to this idea; if you don't need it, just don't jettison your fuel, what's the downside? The fact that there are already various ways to waste fuel is irrelevant, and there is no way that is universally applicable.)

This is a fairly common request, and one that would certainly be useful at times. I'd like to see it added, as well.

Where would Spoc, Scotty and McCoy be without fuel jettison?

There are ways to avoid getting stuck or even using it as a benefit as longer flight. We don't need something that so easy control using common Sense.

I need to jettison like 2 Litres of fuel!

Instead I have to plot to a star 15ly closer..

+1 for fuel jettison
