Exploration Trip #1

Decided to take my first trip in my shiny new ASP Explorer 1000ly outside the bubble, in a random direction, hoping to find anything, anything, new. I succeeded, but it was a measly discovery, this system:

I then proceeded to take a few photographs on the planets in-system:

I will be taking a trip once a weekend, hope to discover something new each time!

Made a more coordinated attempt at exploration. Decided to go straight up, hoping to go off the beaten path and discover something new, and once again succeeded, and found a better system this time.

This was an awesome success, as it wasnt a crappy star with crappy planets. but instead a nice system. I didnt end up taking any great screenshots here, so i wont share them

Instead of going up, This time I went down, and oh boy did I discover systems. 6 systems, and a variety of different planets in other systems. Most notibly of which is this system, (which I discovered) I found my first Earth-like! I was super-pumped and could not wait to get back.

I took these screenshots in low orbit over the planet

I also found a cool golden planet:

afraid I don't know what that is goemon, and I already sold my data. If you'd care to enlighten me that'd be wonderful.

Don't forget to register your Earth like world in the Earth Like Worlds post run by Marx :)

Thanks, I would not have known that existed if it wasn't for you

Your first untagged systems are always nice. And your first ELW is always great. My first exploration trip was about 1 1/2 kylies out from the bubble and back again. My second was the Distant Worlds Expedition to Beagle's Point on the other side of the galaxy. Although I did have to return to the bubble twice. First time to change my paintjob and the second time for repairs.

dang, going from 1500 ly to 65000 ly, thats quite a leap. Due to my lack of hours to play a week (limited to weekends), it would take me months upon months before I reached beagle point, and many more months before I'm back again. This summer I was thinking of taking a one month trip to Sag A* while exploring all around the path. May I ask what ship you use and what outfits you have on it?

Despite previous statements, I decided to go on a little trip to Beta Hydrae and check out the back hole there, I was surprised at how small it was!

That was my longest trip yet. About a 5000ly circle incorporating the California Nebula, a stop 3000ly outside the bubble, Bernard's Loop, and the Pleiades Nebula. I discovered around 40 - 50 systems (that i felt like scanning) FIVE water worlds, but not a single earth-like. I also discovered a handful of metal rich. I took a crapton of screenshots, so I'll be posting them below labeling where I took them. First of, however, I would like to show you the route I took.

I have a few more screenshots, but because I don't want to make a page long post, I'll leave it with those best few. I also made up this hilariously amazing game, well two games. One, the less fun one, is racing to the middle of a crater without dying. Quite straightforward. The other is canyon Jumping. I spent about 3 hours yesterday and today just canyon jumping. You land your ship near a relatively small canyon, and try to jump over it using the vertical thrusters. If you fail, you have to climb all the way up back to complete it. Currently, I am in Sol, and if someone wants to race or canyon jump, please let me know. I'm currently on Galileo but I'll probably be all over the place looking for people to do this with. On another note, my next trip will be another short trip downward, hopefully to discover some earth-likes. Have a great day everyone!

Well, it is usually lonely out there. Those above are pretty good screenshots, very nice collection! I also like that you're exploring the vicinity of the bubble. Lots and lots of sights to see around. Don't forget about the smaller nebulae and dark regions either! The ELW list has a handily listing of those too, by the way, based on drkaii's work, and how many Earth-likes have been found in each one's sectors. You might be surprised how few some of them are.
