Jimquisition and FD experience with getting ED published

This could belong to off topic, but this *could* also give some background into why FD had to go indie to publish Elite 4 and why game industry struggles with original games recently and why we see rise of indie.

One thing is theory, and other thing is to hear it from someone actually from industry. Also good insightful comments from Jim himself.

That guy is so right! i could almost cry as to how right he is... thats what happens when people who have no experience or knowledge get to make decissions about something they know nothing or very little about.

It so aggrevating to see that this is the continuing state of games development for many games companies...

It's not just games companies. I worked for a pretty decent company that ended up being run by accountants. It went to **** so I left.

More and more companies are being run by accountants that have no clues about the business or people they run, then wonder why it all goes south very fast. It really is so sad.

Pretty much what i have been thinking for a while.

I like his style. Really, this needed to be said loud and clear years ago - not just whispered (as it was as far back as the NGE, and those whispers were absorbed by the white noise of that debacle).

This is exactly why I jumped at the chance to back Elite Dangerous. I threw my money at David Braben because, to me, he is the last of the true gamers making great games for the sake of making great games. He is the very antithesis of the modern games industry.
